We pride ourselves on our commitment to quality, safety, and career development. Quality Labor Management is seeking an experienced Underground Electrician to join our team. As a Journeyman Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and wiring located below ground, which includes work on direct-buried cables, conduits, and underground power lines for telecommunications, residential, and commercial projects. A specialized type is the underground mine electrician, who works with high-voltage equipment and electrical systems in mining operations, a role that also involves troubleshooting mechanical issues.
Responsibilities of an underground electrician:
- Installation: Dig trenches, lay conduits, and install direct-buried electrical cables, then backfill and mark the area with caution tape.
- Maintenance and repair: Inspect and repair existing underground electrical systems in tunnels, manholes, and vaults.
- System operation: Service and troubleshoot electrical systems for various infrastructure, including the equipment used in mining operations like motors, generators, and communication systems.
- Safety compliance: Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and standards, which can include specific burial depths and proper marking for other contractors
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work in confined and physically demanding spaces.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations.
- Often requires a formal apprenticeship and/or specific certifications, such as Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) for mining electricians
- 2 + years in Wastewater Plant
- Underground Experience
- Skills Exam will be conducted
