Job Summary:
Mfg engineering technician role to support manufacturing operations across engineering, manufacturing and QA teams to create or complete documentation of BOM and all specifications to manufacture, assemble and test product. Work closely with purchasing and suppliers on procurement of materials and with development of new suppliers if required. Ability to identify and incorporate process and product improvements as well as adapt processes as needed for local manufacturing capability. Assist in developing and installing new production processes and participate in overall improvement activities leading to improved safety, enhanced efficiencies, better quality, and lower costs based on input obtained from cross functional sources including engineering, production, maintenance and contract personnel.
Essential Functions*:
- Identify process and quality improvement projects and plans to achieve their testing, validation and overall documentation.
- Create and update product drawings, fixtures, work instructions, test procedures and quality assurance requirements.
- Support the Preventative Maintenance System as a management and operational tool (equipment histories, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, etc.).
- Identify and implement cost reduction activities.
- Validate or re-validate process and fixture capability.
- Resolve and work to prevent quality issues both internally and externally through use of quality improvement tools and methodologies such as Lean – Six Sigma.
- Assist with the troubleshooting and continuous improvement of equipment control systems including electrical, pneumatic and mechanical interactions.
- Provide control system assistance during new or modified equipment startup.
- Adhere to all safety and policy regulations.
- Perform complex skilled demand maintenance and preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment as necessary.
- Participate in safety training and actively comply with safety policies and practices.
- Other assignments as deemed appropriate by the Engineering Manager.
- Overtime as required.
Education / Training / Skills / Experience:
- Associates of Science, Engineering Discipline or 5 years demonstrated ability in the field of work.
- Minimum 3 years experience in manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of SPC, and basic statistics, prefer FMEA knowledge.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Self starter, with exceptional time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and deal with all organizational levels.
- Electrical, electromechanical or battery experience will weigh favorably.
- High level of initiative and strong work ethic.
- Must have a general knowledge of ISO requirements and working knowledge of those requirements as they pertain to document / record control, new product development, work environment including ESD / temperature / humidity / contamination, infrastructure, property management, and preventive maintenance in support of product manufacture.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; speak and hear. The employee must be able to speak, read and write fluently, in English. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
