Traveling Mobile Mechanic- Truck and Heavy Equipment

Overview:
We are looking for a skilled professional to travel between Dan-Kel projects and offices, working to maintain our fleet, on and off the jobsite. With 7 offices spread across the Southeast, our project footprint covers from Florida to Washinton, DC. This position would be based and mobilized from our Raleigh, NC location and would be dispatched on a weekly basis. We maintain a diverse fleet of diesel, gas, hydraulic, and electric concrete cutting equipment, and their transport/support vehicles. It is a fast-paced, high energy, and ever-changing dynamic. We are looking for someone to be a self-managed person, capable of keeping trucks and equipment running with minimal supervision and direction. Must be comfortable making decisions and sourcing necessary supplies to complete the job at hand. This person must be able to uphold a certain level of accountability with our field personnel and work closely with the members of management to coordinate field repair efforts to ensure tools and materials are ready and available when needed according to job schedules.
Position Requirements:
- Travel to jobsites and other Dan-Kel offices to perform job duties. While performing the duties of this job, you will frequently work in all types of outside weather conditions, possibly being exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes and/or heavy dust.
- Adapts well to changing workflow and able to work flexible hours (Up to 60+/week), with travel out of town overnight for extended periods with the possibility of weekends. Flexibility in schedule for possibility of overnight and weekend work depending on project needs.
- Maintain assigned truck housekeeping and parts inventory
- Maintain equipment to company standards of readiness, completing appropriate paperwork for repair tracking and accounting, including applicable DOT driver logs and electronic paperwork
- Report to Shop Foreman and coordinate workflow with them depending on job scheduling requirements while communicating project progress regularly.
- Physically able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl for extended periods of time and able to lift, hold, carry weights in excess of 50 pounds with minimal or no assistance
- Other duties as assigned
Skill Requirements:
- Diagnose and repair wide variety of small/large diesel and gas engines, performing periodic maintenance and major repairs as needed
- Diagnose, service, and repair various systems that are found on trucks, heavy equipment, and support equipment to include: mechanical and computer electronic controls, air brake systems, transmissions, and pneumatic systems
- Comprehension and understanding of hydraulic systems. IE: diagnose, repair, perform system checks, reading and interpretation of schematics/diagrams
- Knowledge of both AC and DC electrical systems. Read and interpret applicable diagrams and make appropriate repairs
- Basic metal fabrication skills: Welding, cutting, torching
- Minor diagnostic troubleshooting and repair over the phone
Types of Equipment:
- Walk-behind and ride-on slab saws (Husqvarna, Diamond Products)
- Rotary screw compressors, pneumatic sealant supply systems, abrasive blasting equipment
- Various styles of hand-held cutting tools, electric/hydraulic/gas powered
- Hydraulic power units (diesel/gas)
- Small and large electric generators (diesel/gas)
- Light/Medium/Heavy duty trucks, box, stake, and open body (diesel/gas)
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3-5 years minimum of Heavy-Duty/Industrial mechanic experience (or equivalent industry)
- Basic computer knowledge, utilizing Microsoft 365 program suite (IE Outlook, Teams)
- Valid drivers license
- Pass a DOT Medical Card physical examination
- Must have own hand tools (Service truck and support tools/equipment to be provided by Dan-Kel)
- Negative drug test results
- Experience working with concrete cutting equipment but not required!
