Overview

Traveling Energy Auditor at Champaign County Regional Planning Commission. The Traveling Energy Auditor travels extensively (up to 75% time each month) to Community Action Agencies across the state of Illinois, providing services to agencies lacking staff in building performance roles, operating specialized tools and equipment for improved building performance, energy efficiency, and client health and safety. Trains Community Action Agency staff in the field on how to improve building performance through the determination of proper energy retrofits. Time not spent in the field is at the Training Center located in Champaign, IL.

Responsibilities

Travel to Community Action Agencies across Illinois up to 75% of time per month to support building performance projects.

Provide services to agencies lacking staff in building performance roles; operate specialized tools and equipment for improved building performance, energy efficiency, and client health and safety.

Train Community Action Agency staff in the field on how to improve building performance through energy retrofits.

Support training and activities at the Training Center as needed.

Qualifications

At least 2 years experience in construction, building inspection, cost estimation, housing rehabilitation, etc., or a combination of training and experience.

High school diploma or GED.

Good working knowledge of construction methods and building materials.

Must obtain the Illinois Energy Auditor Training Program within the first 6 months of employment.

Must obtain the BPI Building Science Principles Certificate within the first month of employment.

Must have a current and valid Illinois driver's license.

Math skills; basic knowledge of home performance and building science; computer literacy, including Microsoft Suite; problem-solving and critical-thinking skills; ability to take initiative.

Worksite and Compensation

Worksite: 2111 S. Oak Street Suite 106, Champaign, IL 61820. Status: Full-Time/37.5 hours per week. Starting Wage: $30.77 - $35.90. Benefits: competitive benefits, health insurance, dental insurance, retirement, and a great work environment.
