Transportation Engineer or Certified Engineering Technologist

Responsibilities What your day will look like:Design and Project CoordinationContribute to the preparation of technical reports and studies to support the development of transportation engineering designs, including EA documentationDesign of transportation projects including:Preliminary and Detailed DesignEngineering studiesTechnical specificationsDesign calculationsTransportation drafting using CADD softwareConduct site investigations and condition assessmentsComplete review of safe work practices and perform risk assessmentspreparation of contract documentation, including contract drawings, construction specifications, tender quantity and cost estimates, and working day estimates Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, environmental scientists, engineering technologists and administrative support staffBusiness DevelopmentContribute to the preparation of estimates and project proposalsContribute to the leadership and growth of the Transportation groupContribute to the development of public and private sector client relationships and new business opportunitiesTravel to client locations and/or other Dillon offices for the purposes of executing your responsibilities, internal client relationship development, project research and project deliveryLearning and DevelopmentCommit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional developmentInput to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoringContribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees Qualifications What you will need to succeed:A degree in civil or transportation engineering or a diploma in civil engineering technologyLicensed to practice as an engineer-in-training in the province of Ontario, or eligible to be licensed within six months or registered as a civil engineering technologist in the province of Ontario or eligible to be registered within six months3-8 years of experience with exposure to consulting. Experience Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial engineering standards and regulatory requirementsKnowledge of industry standards, specifications and good engineering practicesUnderstand project design and implementation activities, including development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering and contract administrationProficient in the use of current AutoCAD software; working knowledge of Civil 3D, Microstation, OpenRoads Designer or InRoads software will be considered an assetStrong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skillsWhy choose DillonDillon is powered by people who are technically proficient, passionate about socially important projects, and motivated to deliver superior, tangible results.
