TRANSPORT PLANNER\nLocation: Cambridgeshire\nStart Date: June/July 2026\nSalary: £36,000 – £40,000 p.a. basic + Benefits (depending on experience)\nUnify HQ is supporting our client, a specialist transport planning and civil engineering consultancy, in the appointment of a Transport Planner to join their growing development planning team. This role is ideal for someone with at least two years’ experience who is confident preparing Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Technical Notes and Access Appraisals, and who is ready to take ownership of small–medium sized projects with support from senior colleagues.\nYou’ll work closely with developers, architects and local authorities, preparing planning‑stage drawings, undertaking TRICS assessments, reviewing site layouts, designing access options, and contributing to Transport Assessments and Modelling Notes.

The position offers hands‑on involvement in a wide range of development projects, from early feasibility through to planning submission, with opportunities to attend client and local authority meetings, undertake site visits independently, prepare proposals, and support marketing and business development initiatives.\nThis is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Transport Planner looking to deepen their technical capability, gain more client‑facing responsibility, and progress within a consultancy environment built around strong communication, commercial awareness and high‑quality project delivery.\nThe Role\nYou will lead and support colleagues across all stages of project delivery, preparing Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Technical Notes, Access Appraisals and contributing to Transport Assessments and Modelling Notes. You’ll undertake site visits independently, attend project team and client meetings, prepare proposals for small–medium projects, and provide professional advice to inform scheme development.\nYou will also complete and review planning‑stage drawings including visibility splays, tracking diagrams and access designs, propose mitigation schemes, and apply modelling methodologies to assess trip and distribution. Alongside technical work, you’ll support marketing and business development activity, helping to strengthen client relationships and contribute to the wider growth of the business.\nKey Responsibilities\n * Lead and support delivery of small–medium sized projects, including time and budget management\n * Prepare Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Technical Notes and Access Appraisals\n * Contribute to Transport Assessments and Modelling Notes\n * Use TRICS to assess trip for a range of land uses, including sui generis\n * Complete and review planning‑stage AutoCAD drawings (visibility splays, tracking, access designs)\n * Undertake detailed site layout reviews and provide high‑level feedback\n * Identify and propose mitigation schemes to support capacity and active travel improvements\n * Apply modelling methodologies to calculate trip and distribution\n * Undertake site visits independently and provide professional advice\n * Attend client, project team and Local Highway Authority meetings\n * Assist with preparing materials for Public Consultations\n * Prepare proposals for small–medium projects and contribute to larger bids\n * Interpret and local planning policy to maximise development potential\n * Support marketing initiatives, including social media and project‑led promotion\n * Build strong working relationships with clients, architects, planners and highways officers\nRequirements\n * Degree‑level qualification or equivalent\n * Minimum 2 years’ transport planning experience\n * Strong written and verbal communication skills\n * Ability to prioritise workload and work independently or as part of a team\n * Experience using Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, TRICS and modelling software\n * Knowledge of MfS, DMRB, LTPs, LTNs and relevant planning policy\n * Ability to work calmly under pressure and maintain high standards of accuracy\n * Professional, adaptable and proactive approach\nWhat’s on Offer\n * A structured career path within one of the South’s leading Transport Planning & Development Consultancies\n * Opportunity to start in June 2026 and join a growing, supportive planning and engineering team\n * Hands‑on involvement in a wide range of development projects, gaining exposure to Transport Statements, Travel Plans, TRICS assessments, CAD work and client meetings from day one\nTo Apply:\nInterested candidates should submit a CV and a covering letter detailing their experience and suitability for the role to James Feeley, Department Lead at Unify Renewables.\nIf you have the skill set and are interested in being put forward for this new and exciting position, then please forward your CV immediately.\nUnify HQ Limited is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy.
