Transmission Design Engineer

Our client is a leader in drivetrain technologies, serving industries such as oil and gas, energy, mining and mechanical engineering, ship technology, rail, and commercial vehicles. Currently seeking a Transmission Design Engineer to join their established team.



The Role



Responsible for creating and revising manufacturing drawings, ensuring compliance with BS 8888 standards



Manage the CAD system and maintain technical product records, manuals, and descriptions



Liaise with workshop staff to address technical queries and provide necessary support



Assess and respond to customer technical requests while performing design changes as needed



Update drawings to align with current manufacturing processes and standards



Collaborate with Sales Managers and support sales administration staff



Communicate effectively with customers both in the UK and internationally



Support Field Service Engineers on products manufactured or overhauled by the organisation



Take ownership of Transmission-related technical Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)



Visit suppliers to assist and support their in-house manufacturing processes



Collaborate with Purchasing and Quality departments to approve and qualify new suppliers



The Candidate



Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing and design functions



Mechanical engineering qualification at a minimum HND level



Proficiency in AutoCAD, Siemens NX, or similar CAD packages



Solid understanding of engineering change and document control



Familiarity with BS 8888 technical product documentation and specifications



Hands-on, flexible, positive, and proactive attitude crucial for supporting junior engineers



Industry knowledge, including an understanding of the non-ferrous metal casting process and power transmissions/rotating equipment
