Job Summary
This position exists to coordinate the administration of Minnesota's state and community highway safety program planning, coordinating, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating state-wide traffic safety projects designed to reduce traffic crashes, deaths, and injuries.
**Hybrid Eligible:** Employees may telework up to 50% or more, depending on the position and the needs of the division. Employees who live 50 miles or more from their permanent work location and reside within the state or in a county bordering the state may be allowed to telework more than 50% with approval from the division director.
The Department of Public Safety is unable to provide sponsorship for work visas. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States at the start of employment. DPS does not participate in E-Verify
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Two* years of experience independently managing the development, negotiation, and monitoring of projects including analysis, interpretation, and complex decision making skills
- Experience with developing and monitoring budgets for projects or grants
- Knowledge of and experience with the use of traffic safety countermeasures including education and enforcement efforts
- Experience writing reports, procedures, plans, and correspondence sufficient to provide clear and thorough information to a variety of audiences
- Experience with traffic safety incident management
- Human relations ability sufficient to interact positively and tactfully with co-workers and a large variety of public groups
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities
*A Bachelors degree or higher may substitute for one year of required experience
Qualifications
- Experience with programs and procedures of the Highway Traffic Safety Administration
- Knowledge of and experience with the enforcement and safety advocate communities in the state
- Experience with an electronic grant management system
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file folders and small tools. May need to maintain a stationary position for long periods of time while carrying out job duties.
