Overview
Energy Jobline is supporting a major international energy infrastructure programme and is seeking an experienced Topside Control Systems (ICSS / SCADA) Inspector to oversee quality assurance and testing of integrated control and safety systems.
The role will focus on ensuring control system hardware, software logic, and communication networks meet the reliability and safety requirements required for offshore energy facilities.
The Role
Reporting to the Project QA/QC Manager or I&C Engineer, the ICSS / SCADA Inspector will monitor manufacturing, integration, and testing activities for control system infrastructure at vendor facilities and automation workshops.
The position will verify system functionality through detailed inspections, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and functional verification of integrated control and safety systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Witness and verify Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of integrated control and safety systems including DCS, ESD, and fire & gas systems
- Inspect PLC/DCS hardware assemblies including control cabinets, server racks, and marshalling panels
- Verify cabinet wiring, grounding, labeling, and termination integrity within control system panels
- Review programmed control logic to ensure alignment with Cause & Effect matrices and Functional Design Specifications
- Verify that safety systems meet required Safety Integrity Level (SIL) standards
- Witness loop testing and signal verification between field instruments, control systems, and operator interfaces
- Inspect HMI and SCADA interfaces to confirm correct graphics, alarm management, and system functionality
- Verify hazardous area certification for control system hardware intended for classified environments
- Monitor configuration and testing of communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, and Ethernet/IP
- Review and maintain testing documentation including FAT reports, logic test records, and certification documentation
Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems and integrated control architectures
- Experience with major control platforms such as Honeywell, Siemens, Emerson, Yokogawa, or similar systems
- Familiarity with functional safety standards including IEC 61508 and IEC 61511
- Ability to interpret control system documentation including logic diagrams, cause & effect charts, and system architecture drawings
- Experience witnessing FAT and integration testing for automation systems
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills during system testing phases
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation, Control, or Electrical Engineering
- Mandatory certification as a Functional Safety Professional (TÜV or Exida CFSP/CFSE)
- Hazardous area certification such as CompEx is advantageous
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in oil & gas or industrial automation environments
- At least 5 years’ experience working with ICSS / SCADA systems in design, integration, or inspection roles
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills

The advertised day rate applies to independent consultants operating on a contract basis. Candidates who prefer to be engaged as employees of the client may be offered a different remuneration structure.
