Design the Tools That Drive Manufacturing
We are an established Tool & Die shop seeking an experienced Tool Design Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you'll be responsible for designing custom tooling and progressive stamping dies from concept through production while working closely with Toolmakers, Machinists, and Manufacturing Engineers.
This is a Direct Hire opportunity offering long-term stability and the chance to work on challenging, custom tooling projects.
This is NOT an entry-level position. Candidates must have prior Tool Design experience in a Tool & Die or metal stamping environment.
Responsibilities
- Design progressive stamping dies, tooling, fixtures, and related components using 3D CAD software.
- Develop strip layouts, die assemblies, detailed manufacturing drawings, and bills of materials.
- Review customer prints, CAD models, and specifications to create manufacturable tooling solutions.
- Collaborate with Toolmakers during tool build, assembly, and tryout to ensure successful project completion.
- Troubleshoot tooling issues and implement design improvements to increase efficiency, quality, and tool life.
- Modify and update existing tooling designs as needed.
- Ensure designs meet customer specifications, tolerances, and manufacturing standards.
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to support new and existing tooling projects.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and revision control.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of Tool Design experience in a Tool & Die or metal stamping environment.
- Experience designing progressive stamping dies is strongly .
- Proficiency with CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, VISI, Siemens NX, or similar.
- Strong understanding of metal stamping processes, die construction, strip layouts, and manufacturing methods.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across engineering and manufacturing teams.
