Job Description

Oracle's Hardware Development Organization

seeks an experienced Lead Thermal Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in Liquid Cooling to work within its Server Development team in Santa Clara, California. You will lead the thermal architecture of next- servers for various Oracle programs, including cloud applications.

As a Lead Thermal Engineer, your focus will be on aligning liquid cooling hardware design with data center infrastructure. You should have extensive hands-on experience with industry-leading data center liquid cooling technologies. You will work cross-functionally with Mechanical, Electrical, Thermal, and Software teams to develop and implement liquid cooling strategies and hardware setups optimized for entire racks. You will collaborate with internal and external partners on design, development, manufacturing, and deployment of cutting-edge liquid-cooled hardware.

Responsibilities

Lead design and development of liquid cooling solutions for servers and racks.

Perform thermal modeling at component, server, rack, and data center levels.

Coordinate with cross-disciplinary teams during concept, design, prototype, and production phases.

Engage with cloud data centers to address their cooling needs for high-end electronics.

Manage relationships with suppliers for high-quality component development.

Oversee prototype build and validation testing.

Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

Interface with customers to ensure product design meets requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's ).

7-10 years of hands-on experience in thermal mechanical engineering, specifically in liquid cooling for high-end servers/racks.

Experience leading liquid cooling integration and verification for GPU/CPU server configurations.

Proficiency with thermal modeling tools at various system levels.

Strong understanding of data center liquid cooling technology and industry trends.

Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Skills

Familiarity with data center cooling standards (e.g., ASHRAE).

Experience with mechanical validation testing, EMI/EMC considerations, and vendor management.

Knowledge of long-term reliability issues in liquid cooling systems.
