Position Overview:
X-Bow Systems is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Test Engineering to support our testing operations and equipment design efforts. This offers hands-on experience in writing procedures, documentation, supporting test operations, and assisting with equipment design. The ideal candidate will be organized, technically inclined, and eager to learn about aerospace testing and engineering processes.
While knowledge of rockets is a plus, strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience working with tools is more important.Key Responsibilities:Procedure Writing:
- Assist in drafting and refining test procedures to ensure clarity and compliance with company standards.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to develop step-by-step instructions for testing operations.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of test operations, results, and equipment configurations.
- Organize and update technical documentation, including test plans, reports, and design specifications.
Support Test Operations:
- Provide hands-on assistance during test setups and executions.
- Monitor test equipment and ensure proper functionality during operations.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues during testing.
- Apply practical mechanical skills to assemble, disassemble, and maintain test equipment.
Support Equipment Design:
- Collaborate with engineers to design and develop test equipment and fixtures.
- Assist in the assembly, calibration, and maintenance of test equipment.
- Provide input on design improvements to enhance testing efficiency and accuracy.
- Utilize hands-on fabrication and construction skills to build and modify test fixtures.
Qualifications:Education:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Skills:
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Basic understanding of engineering principles and testing methodologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is a plus.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Hands-On Experience (Highly Valued):
- Experience working with tools and mechanical systems through hobbies or work experience.
- Background in automotive repair, construction, fabrication, machining, or similar hands-on activities.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems and work with various tools and equipment.
- Experience with welding, machining, electrical work, or other technical trades is highly desirable.
Qualifications:
- Experience with hands-on testing or equipment design is desirable.
- Familiarity with data acquisition systems and sensors is a plus.
- Knowledge of rockets, propulsion systems, or aerospace applications is beneficial but not required.
- Experience with power tools, precision instruments, and measurement equipment.
