Job DescriptionJob Description
The Technical Support Project Manager serves as the critical link between complex mechanical failures and rapid-response solutions. This is a high-impact leadership role requiring a rare blend of advanced mechanical aptitude and proven supervisory experience. You will not only manage the logistics of a Midwest-based technician fleet but will also serve as their technical anchor—ensuring that every dispatch is handled with extreme urgency and professional precision.
Key Responsibilities
- High-Urgency Command: Lead the daily "war room" of dispatch operations. You are responsible for the immediate deployment of technicians across the Midwest, prioritizing emergency repairs to minimize client downtime.
- Technical Mentorship & Triage: Leverage your deep mechanical background to vet incoming service requests. You will troubleshoot over the phone to help technicians diagnose issues with hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy mechanical assemblies before they even turn a wrench.
- Personnel Management: Directly supervise a team of Field Service Technicians. This includes conducting performance reviews, managing safety compliance, and fostering a culture of accountability and speed.
- Project Lifecycle Oversight: Manage the end-to-end execution of complex repair projects, ensuring that labor, specialized parts, and technical expertise are synchronized perfectly.
- Escalation Leadership: Act as the final technical authority for field issues. When a repair stalls or a technician hits a wall, you step in to provide the mechanical insight needed to clear the hurdle.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Advanced Mechanical Aptitude: You must speak the of machinery. Whether it’s reading schematics, understanding torque specs, or diagnosing gear-train failures, your technical knowledge must be sharp enough to earn the respect of veteran technicians.
- Proven Supervisory Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years in a leadership or foreman role. You must have experience managing a mobile workforce, handling conflict resolution, and driving team productivity.
- The "Midwest Hustle": A relentless sense of urgency. You understand that in this region's industrial and agricultural sectors, every hour of downtime carries a massive price tag.
- Logistical Intelligence: Proficiency in Field Service Management (FSM) software and the ability to optimize complex travel schedules across multiple states.
Experience Requirements
- Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or equivalent hands-on trade experience (Master Mechanic/Journeyman status).
- Leadership History: Clear track record of managing at least 8–12 field-based reports.
- Industry Background: Preference given to candidates from heavy equipment, power , HVAC/R, or industrial automation sectors.
