Job Overview
Kendai Inc. is seeking a hands-on and technically skilled Technical Service Engineer to support construction, facility infrastructure, equipment installation, and technical service operations within semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, and high-tech industrial environments.
This role combines engineering support with contractor-level project execution and requires an individual who possesses either an Arizona KB-1 Dual Building Contractor License or B-1 General Commercial Contractor License, along with strong technical problem-solving abilities and customer-facing communication skills.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting semiconductor fabs, cleanrooms, industrial construction projects, facility upgrades, utility systems, or equipment installations. Chinese (Mandarin) proficiency is highly due to frequent coordination with overseas suppliers, contractors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site technical support for construction, facility, equipment installation, and infrastructure projects
- Manage and oversee contractor activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, schedules, and safety requirements
- Support installation, commissioning, startup, and turnover of facility systems, equipment, and utility infrastructure
- Troubleshoot technical issues involving mechanical, electrical, plumbing, process utility, and facility systems
- Coordinate with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, engineering teams, and project stakeholders to resolve technical challenges
- Review and interpret construction drawings, engineering plans, specifications, and equipment documentation
- Conduct site inspections, quality control reviews, and punch-list management
- Prepare technical reports, service documentation, project updates, and field observations
- Assist business development and project management teams during project evaluations, site walks, and customer meetings
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and company safety policies
- Support procurement activities, vendor evaluations, and contractor coordination
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence programs
Qualifications – Required
- Arizona KB-1 Dual Building Contractor License or B-1 General Commercial Contractor License (active and in good standing)
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in construction, facility engineering, technical services, project engineering, field engineering, or related technical environments
- Strong understanding of commercial and industrial construction practices
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, engineering specifications, and technical documentation
- Experience coordinating subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout Arizona
Qualifications
- Experience supporting semiconductor fabrication facilities, cleanrooms, advanced manufacturing plants, data centers, or mission-critical facilities
- Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), HVAC, process piping, process exhaust, and utility systems
- Experience managing tenant improvements, facility upgrades, renovations, and industrial construction projects
- Knowledge of local building codes, permitting processes, and contractor compliance requirements
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training
- Project management experience is a plus
- Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English strongly
- Ability to communicate effectively with international clients, suppliers, and contractors
Work Environment
- Combination of office, field, construction site, and customer facility environments
- Frequent visits to semiconductor fabs, manufacturing facilities, and active construction sites
- May require local and occasional domestic travel
- Requires the ability to work in fast-paced technical and construction environments
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely navigate active construction sites
