Technical Sales Engineer - Magnetics

We are seeking a driven Technical Sales Engineer to support our growing sales efforts in the Magnetics product group. This role is critical in helping qualify opportunities, provide high-value technical support, and guide both customers and internal sales teams through the technical aspects of the sales cycle.
The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in identifying and converting new business, with a strong emphasis on technical communication, value-added solution selling, and nurturing early-stage opportunities into long-term customers. While this role is primarily focused on magnetics, cross-selling into our other product categories will be rewarded with performance-based bonus incentives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Opportunity Qualification & Support
- Work closely with sales and marketing to vet and qualify inbound and outbound leads.
- Evaluate customer technical requirements and assess alignment with our magnetics product offering.
- Prioritize high-potential opportunities and support hand-off to appropriate sales channels.
- Technical Communication
- Serve as the subject matter expert on transformers, inductors, chokes, and other magnetic components.
- Translate customer technical specifications into actionable product recommendations or custom solutions.
- Provide detailed product information, application guidance, and design-in support.
- Sales Enablement
- Partner with internal account managers, distributors, and regional reps to move opportunities forward.
- Attend customer calls, provide pre-sales technical guidance, and respond to RFQs with appropriate documentation and product data.
- Track all activity and opportunity stages within CRM systems.
- Content creation for internal and external for sales promotion.
- New Customer Acquisition & Cross-Selling
- Drive growth by converting new magnetic customers into active accounts.
- Receive tiered compensation for new customer wins, with additional kicker bonuses for any successful cross-selling into other product groups (e.g., relays, displays).
- Collaboration & Feedback Loop
- Provide feedback to product management on customer needs and market trends.
- Assist with product training for internal sales staff and external channel partners.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years in technical sales, field applications, or product support – ideally in magnetics, power components, or related electronic hardware.
- Strong understanding of power components and their applicability to their customer design.
- Demonstrated ability to support full-cycle sales, especially early-stage qualification and solution crafting.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- CRM proficiency (e.g., Salesforce) and experience with quoting tools is a plus.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally and independently in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
