Position Overview

The Technical Project Manager (TPM) serves as the project manager within the Project Implementation Team, partnering closely with—and supporting—the Project Engineer to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, on schedule, and with clear communication across all internal and external stakeholders. This role focuses on project coordination, documentation, scheduling, and cross-functional alignment, allowing the Project Engineer to remain focused on technical delivery and engineering deliverables.

The TPM acts as the operational backbone of the project—tracking progress, managing workflows, identifying risks, and ensuring project details are organized, communicated, and followed through.

Reporting & Team Interaction

  • Works closely with Project Engineers, Engineering Management, Project Implementation Technicians, Project Administration, customers, and vendors
  • Acts as a key liaison between engineering, operations, and administrative teams
  • Reports to Engineering leadership

Key Responsibilities – Project Coordination & Administration

  • Support Project Engineers during project kickoff, handoff, and implementation phases
  • Work with the Application Engineer to ensure a smooth transition from the sales team to the project team, confirming requirements, deliverables, and timeline expectations
  • Maintain overall project ownership for planning, coordination, and follow-through—ensuring decisions, action items, and deliverables stay on track from kickoff through closeout
  • Own the project cadence: manage schedules, track scope changes, and drive recurring status updates to keep internal teams, customers, and vendors aligned
  • Proactively remove blockers by coordinating cross-functional support and escalation paths so the Project Engineer can focus on technical deliverables
  • Build, maintain, and update project schedules and workflows in Wrike
  • Track project milestones, action items, dependencies, and deliverables
  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation (drawings, scope documents, customer requirements, change logs, etc.)
  • Assist with internal and customer-facing meeting coordination, agendas, and follow-up items

Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as a communication hub to ensure project updates flow consistently between engineering, operations, customer service, and leadership
  • Document and distribute meeting notes, decisions, action items, and follow-ups to ensure alignment and accountability
  • Help coordinate customer communications related to timelines, scheduling, and project logistics (in partnership with the Project Engineer)
  • Coordinate communication with vendors and customers to align timelines, responsibilities, and next steps throughout the project
  • Proactively escalate risks, delays, or resource constraints to appropriate stakeholders

Schedule, Resource & Risk Management

  • Assist in developing and maintaining realistic project schedules based on engineering and execution needs
  • Track resource requirements and availability in coordination with engineering and operations teams
  • Identify potential scheduling conflicts, bottlenecks, or risks early and recommend mitigation plans
  • Support change management by tracking scope changes and coordinating required approvals and updates

Cross-Functional Support

  • Support the Project Engineer with cross-functional coordination to keep project work moving (operations, purchasing, customer service, and vendors)
  • Coordinate procurement and logistics activities (ordering, shipment scheduling, and delivery coordination) in alignment with the project schedule
  • Help schedule and track equipment testing milestones (IAT/FAT) and installation readiness activities
  • Maintain accurate project information across project management tools and business systems (e.g., Wrike, CRM/ERP), ensuring updates are current and visible
  • Support projects on-site to assist with coordination and field communication as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a technical project coordination, project management, or engineering support role
  • Demonstrated experience working in a project management software platform to build schedules, track tasks, manage dependencies, and maintain project documentation
  • Comfortable working in Wrike (or similar project management software) to build and maintain project timelines, track milestones, action items, and dependencies
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong follow-through
  • Ability to understand technical concepts sufficiently to support engineering workflows (engineering degree not required)

Skills

  • Prior hands-on experience using Wrike in an engineering, manufacturing, automation, or integration environment
  • Experience supporting engineering-led or technically complex projects
  • Familiarity with technical documentation, project specifications, and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience working in CRM or ERP systems and maintaining project data accuracy
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or controls systems (helpful but not required)

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • Project Engineers can focus on engineering deliverables with reduced administrative burden
  • Projects are clearly tracked, documented, and communicated internally and externally
  • Risks and issues are identified early and addressed proactively
  • Project schedules are realistic, visible, and consistently maintained
  • Stakeholders feel informed, aligned, and confident in project delivery
