Echelon Engineers are recruiting on behalf of a specialist client delivering high-profile projects within the UK energy and smart systems sector. We are seeking a Technical Project Manager to support a multi-year programme focused on EV smart charging and smart electricity systems.\n\nThis is a long-term contract outside IR35, offering the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the UK’s energy transition. The role will begin on an ad hoc/part-time basis before scaling up to a full working week after the first 6–8 weeks.\n\nResponsibilities\n\n * \n\n Lead delivery of technical work packages within energy and smart systems projects\n\n * \n\n Coordinate inputs from stakeholders including government, OEMs, utilities, and technical specialists\n\n * \n\n Manage project plans, RAID logs, reporting cycles, and quality assurance\n\n * \n\n Facilitate workshops, consultations, and progress reviews\n\n * \n\n Ensure deliverables are clear, evidence-based, and aligned with project requirements\n\nSkills & Experience\n\nEssential\n\n * \n\n Proven background as a Project Manager / Programme Manager within energy, infrastructure, or technology projects\n\n * \n\n Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder delivery programmes\n\n * \n\n Strong organisational skills with RAID, QA, and reporting discipline\n\n * \n\n Excellent communication and stakeholder management\n\n * \n\n Ability to produce high-quality reports for policy or regulatory audiences\n\nDesirable\n\n * \n\n Knowledge of EV infrastructure, smart grids, or flexibility markets\n\n * \n\n Experience with communication standards or grid codes\n\n * \n\n Prior work with government departments, regulators, or industry bodies\n\n * \n\n Exposure to cybersecurity frameworks or test events\n\nPersonal Attributes\n\n * \n\n Highly organised and deadline-driven\n\n * \n\n Able to manage subject matter experts across different technical areas\n\n * \n\n Skilled at simplifying complex technical information for wider audiences\n\n * \n\n Collaborative and confident in remote-first delivery\n\nHow to Apply\nIf you are an experienced Project Manager with expertise in energy or smart systems, apply today.\nApplications are being managed by Echelon Engineers on behalf of their client
