Technical Mechanical Supervisor\n\nDepartment: Projects\nReports To: Project Manager / Senior Project Manager\nDirect Reports: Engineers, Improvers, Apprentices\nLocation: Various contract sites as required\n\nCompany Overview\n\nThe organisation delivers building support services to local authorities, social landlords, NHS Trusts and private sector clients. With over 35 years of experience, the business has developed a strong reputation for delivering high-quality mechanical, electrical and security services to both commercial and domestic clients.\n\nThe company prides itself on developing long-term partnerships with clients through reliability, technical expertise and consistent service delivery.\n\nRole Summary\n\nThe Technical Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of mechanical operatives across multiple projects to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.\n\nThe role provides technical leadership to engineers and operatives while ensuring compliance with company standards, statutory regulations and health & safety requirements.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nOperational Supervision\n\nSupervise direct labour and subcontractors to ensure works are delivered efficiently, safely and in accordance with project requirements.\n\nCoordinate the use of plant, equipment and labour resources across contracts.\n\nEnsure all works are completed to the required technical standards, within agreed timeframes and budgets.\n\nMaintain awareness of the location and status of all operatives and subcontractors across active sites.\n\nProject Delivery\n\nCarry out inspections of works in progress and completed installations to ensure quality and compliance.\n\nIdentify, schedule and monitor additional or remedial works where required.\n\nMonitor performance of operatives and subcontractors across assigned contracts.\n\nConduct site surveys and prepare technical reports where required.\n\nTechnical Leadership\n\nProvide guidance and support to engineers, apprentices and site teams on mechanical installation works.\n\nEnsure best practice standards are maintained across mechanical installations including plumbing, heating, ventilation, gas systems, air conditioning and ASHP installations.\n\nAct as a key technical point of contact between site teams and Project Managers.\n\nCompliance & Safety\n\nEnsure compliance with all relevant legislation including the Health and Safety at Work Act and industry regulations.\n\nEnsure adherence to statutory obligations including Gas Safety Regulations and other sector-specific requirements.\n\nMonitor quality standards, health & safety compliance and performance targets across projects.\n\nCommunication & Reporting\n\nAct as the liaison between field operatives and Project Managers to ensure issues are resolved quickly and effectively.\n\nProvide regular updates to Project Managers on project progress, potential delays and resource requirements.\n\nMaintain accurate records and documentation relating to works, inspections and compliance.\n\nGeneral Responsibilities\n\nMaintain professional standards and represent the company positively with clients and the public.\n\nUndertake any additional duties reasonably required to support the successful delivery of projects.\n\nPerson Specification\n\nThe ideal candidate will demonstrate:\n\nExcellent communication and leadership skills\n\nStrong organisational and problem-solving ability\n\nA professional and respectful approach when dealing with tenants, clients and members of the public\n\nA high level of integrity and professionalism\n\nThe ability to work collaboratively within a team environment\n\nExtensive knowledge and practical experience of mechanical installation works including:\n\nCommercial plumbing\n\nHeating and ventilation systems\n\nGas systems\n\nAir conditioning systems\n\nAir Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)\n\nEssential Qualifications & Skills\n\nValid Commercial Gas Qualifications including:\nCOCN1 or CODNCO1, CIGA1, CDGA1, CORT1, ICPN1, TPCP1A\n\nMechanical City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)\n\nValid CSCS Card\n\nFull UK Driving Licence\n\nAsbestos Awareness Certification\n\nSalary & Benefits\n\nSalary: £60,000 per annum\n\n * \n\n 21 days annual leave plus statutory bank holidays\n (increasing by 1 additional day every 2 years up to a maximum of 25 days)\n\n * \n\n Pension scheme – auto enrolment\n\n * \n\n Life insurance\n\n * \n\n Employee Assistance Programme\n\n * \n\n Employee referral scheme\n\n * \n\n Optional private medical insurance (BUPA)\n\n * \n\n Staff discount scheme\n\n * \n\n Company van (private use not permitted)\n\n * \n\n Laptop or tablet and mobile phone\n\n * \n\n Company uniform\n\nWorking Environment\n\nYou will be joining a friendly and busy team environment where your skills and experience will be valued.
