Technical Manager - Roads & Infrastructure\n\nEdinburgh\n\nFirst People Solutions is working with a well-established and highly respected consulting engineer that is seeking a Technical Manager to join their team in Edinburgh.\n\nOur client is a large, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering innovative and sustainable solutions on complex projects across the UK. Their extensive portfolio spans local and infrastructure, covering disciplines including geo-environmental, transportation, structures, renewables, and water services.\n\nThe Role\n\nThis is a senior technical role with responsibility for overseeing design quality, technical assurance, and multidisciplinary coordination across highways and infrastructure projects.\n\nYou will provide technical leadership, ensure compliance with UK standards (including DMRB and MCHW), contribute to projects success, and support the development of engineers within the team. The role also involves client engagement, business development, and supporting the commercial performance and growth of the business.\n\nKey Requirements\n\nDegree in Civil Engineering or equivalent\nChartered Status\n6-10 years of experience working within a design engineering environment in the UK\nStrong background in civil infrastructure and highway design\nProven experience overseeing technical delivery and design assurance\nExcellent knowledge of UK design standards and statutory processes\nCommercial awareness and experience working with multidisciplinary teams\nAbility to mentor and lead engineers \n\nWhat's in it for you?\n\nCompetitive salary and excellent employee benefits\nLead technical on a range of complex projects\nGuiding, mentoring and setting the standard for your team\nPathway to moving into a future Director role \n\nIf you are already a Technical Manager with a civil infrastructure background, we would be keen to hear from you.
