Technical Lead / Solution Architect

Location: Remote (US)
Type: Full-time

Role Summary

We are seeking a Technical Lead / Solution Architect to serve as the chief engineer across modern full-stack and cloud technologies. You will set technical standards, guide engineering practices, ensure production reliability, and mentor teams while maintaining compliance and audit readiness.

Success in this role means: stable performance, fewer incidents, high code hygiene, predictable and audit-ready releases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architecture & Standards
  • Author and maintain reference architecture & ADRs (React, Java/Node, PostgreSQL, OpenAPI, testing, security).
  • Enforce standards through PR reviews, CI/CD gates, and automated checks.
  • Reliability & Observability
  • Define and track SLO/SLIs.
  • Instrument with OpenTelemetry; build New Relic dashboards/alerts with runbooks.
  • Integrations & Risk Management
  • Lead spikes and proofs-of-concept for integrations, migrations, and performance-sensitive features.
  • Document technical decisions and de-risk complex initiatives.
  • API & Data Design
  • Enforce contract-first APIs, versioning, and idempotency; maintain contract tests.
  • Guide database design, indexing, partitioning, and connection pool optimization.
  • Partner with DBAs on backups, disaster recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Operational Readiness
  • Own technical readiness: health checks, rollout/rollback criteria, error budgets, guardrails.
  • Coordinate SAST/DAST/dependency scans and remediation evidence with DevSecOps.
  • CI/CD & Quality Engineering
  • Optimize pipelines for speed and reliability across unit, integration, and E2E tests.
  • Integrate static analysis, code coverage, and security scans into CI/CD.
  • Incident & Tech Debt Management
  • Lead root cause analyses and drive systemic fixes with automation.
  • Plan technical debt budgets and continuous pay-down strategies.
  • Leadership & Mentorship
  • Coach engineers on resilience, caching, backpressure, and observability.
  • Forecast team skills and staffing needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years as Lead/Architect.
  • Strong expertise in Java 11+/Spring or Node, React, and PostgreSQL.
  • Deep knowledge of REST API design, testing strategies, and production reliability.
  • Proven success in driving technical standards and operational stability.

Qualifications / Certifications

  • Experience with ATO-style compliance evidence, system migrations, and performance tuning.

  • AWS/Azure/GCP Architect
  • (ISC)² CISSP/CCSP, CSSLP
  • TOGAF
  • Oracle OCP Java
  • Spring Professional
