Job Location: Downtown Houston, TX *Candidates wanting to be considered for the role MUST LIVE IN HOUSTON AREA.
Pay Rate: $25/hour
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Human Resources Writer to create, revise, and manage a wide range of HR-related content. This role is ideal for someone who understands HR practices and policies and can clearly communicate complex topics through well-written, engaging, and accurate materials. The ideal candidate will collaborate with HR professionals and cross-functional teams to support internal communications, policy documentation, employee handbooks, training materials, and more.
Key Responsibilities:

Write, edit, and proofread clear, consistent, and engaging HR content, including:

Employee handbooks

Company policies and procedures
-
Internal communications
-
Job descriptions
-
Training manuals
-
Onboarding materials
-
DEI (, Equity & ) initiatives

Performance management documents

Translate complex HR and compliance into employee-friendly content.

Ensure all written materials are accurate, up to date, and aligned with company policies and tone of voice.

Collaborate with HR, Legal, and Communications teams to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.

Maintain a consistent style and voice across all HR documents and platforms.

Proactively audit and revise existing content for clarity, relevance, and compliance.

Stay current on industry best practices in HR communications and labor law changes.
RequirementsQualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Human Resources, Journalism, or related field.

3+ years of professional writing/editing experience, preferably in HR, legal, or corporate communications.

Solid understanding of HR principles, employment law, and workplace compliance.

Exceptional grammar, writing, and editing skills with strong attention to detail.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and content/document management systems.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Qualifications:

Experience working in or with an HR department.

Understanding of HR principles and practices.

Familiarity with DEI, change management, or learning and development content.

Knowledge of AP or Chicago Manual of Style.

Experience with plain principles and accessibility in writing.
