Technical Engineer / Estimating Engineer

Edge Careers are working closely on behalf of our client that's looking to recruit a Technical Engineer / Engineering Estimator to their team.



This is a Groundworks Contractor that predominantly operates within the Residential Sector. They specialise in Roads, Sewers, Infrastructure, Bulk Earthworks and Housing Plot Groundworks.

If you're a CAD Technician, Land Surveyor, Civil Engineer, Earthworks Engineer, Technical Engineer or Assistant this might be a perfect role for you to navigate the next step in your career.



You will be assisting in producing take-offs from construction drawings, carry out detailed earthworks modelling, which contribute to preparing accurate and competitive tenders for groundworks packages. The role will also offer exposure to pre-commencement drainage design checks and value engineering considerations.



Qualifications:



- Further education (e.g. BTEC, HNC, or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction) is desirable but not essential.

- Full training will be provided, ideal for someone early in their career or looking for an alternative route within the construction industry.



Key Responsibilities:



- Assist in preparing quantitative take-offs from technical drawings using AutoCAD/BricsCAD (training provided).

- Learn to carry out / support the production of earthwork models using AGTEK software (training provided).

Learn to take off external areas and private drainage measures using AutoCAD/BricsCAD.

- Collaborate with experienced estimators and engineers to understand project requirements.

- Attend training sessions and where required, internal reviews to build technical and commercial understanding.



What We’re Looking For:



- A keen interest in construction, design or estimating.

- Some exposure to or understanding of AutoCAD/BricsCAD, AGTEK is advantageous.

- Good numerical ability and attention to detail.

- Strong communication and teamwork skills.

- Willingness to take ownership of tasks.
