Universal Truck Service LLC, Tanker Shop Division, one of the leading fleet maintenance companies in the Midwest, is looking to hire a skilled Tanker Mechanic/Technician for our New Brighton facility. The Tanker Mechanic/Technician will be responsible for the timely repair and maintenance of heavy-duty fleet and private owner vehicles.

Applicants can be considered for I, II, or Sr. Tanker Technician depending on verified years of experience and position availability.

Position Overview

The Tanker Mechanic/Technician is responsible for timely repair of tanker trailers to ensure safe and efficient operation. The Tanker Technician position requires a high level of proficiency and working knowledge related to repairs and diagnostics of tankers, compartments and systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Candidate must demonstrate to complete the following tasks:

    • ABS brake systems
    • Disc brake systems
    • Suspension repair & replacement (spring and air ride)
    • Lift axle repair & replacement
    • Pneumatic and Hydraulic vent systems repair and replacement
    • Internal Valves (Top Hat, Quick Clean, Disc, Air and Mechanical)
    • API heads and QRB valves
    • Electrical repair and Wiring
    • Overfill system repair and replacement
    • Piping systems
    • Jacket wrap & head repair and replacement
    • Hydraulic, Fabrication and welding experience a plus
    • Must have own tools

Key Competencies & Education

  • At least minimum of 3 years of experience as a Tanker Technician
  • Must have valid Driver's License- Class C
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.
  • Must provide own hand tools & toolbox

Working Conditions

  • Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
  • Must be able to lift 40+ lbs.
  • Ability to move and position heavy objects
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl to repair vehicles
  • Ability to work outside in various weather conditions

Job Type: Full-time
