Job Description:
NDi is seeking a mission-focused Cybersecurity Specialist to support a major federal IT operations and security program at NSWCDD. This role provides hands-on support across vulnerability analysis, system security assessments, risk mitigation, scanning activities, and system accreditation support within Navy and DoD environments.
The ideal candidate brings experience supporting cybersecurity operations, conducting security reviews, and contributing to the accreditation and audit readiness of information systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring NSWCDD systems remain secure, compliant, and resilient against evolving threats.
Requirements:
- U.S Citizenship required.
- Active Secret Clearance required.
- This position requires 5 days onsite in Dahlgren, VA. Please note that up to 40% remote work may become available but this determination will be made at a later stage.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Four (4) years of professional experience in IT security within the DoD or Navy.
- Experience conducting vulnerability analysis, risk analysis, and system security assessments.
- Experience scanning for viruses, malware, and other harmful software.
- Qualified experience supporting accreditation activities and system audits.
- Understanding of DoD cybersecurity policies, security controls, and RMF processes.
- Strong understanding of vulnerability management and system hardening.
- Ability to analyze scan data and produce clear, accurate findings.
- Experience supporting A&A documentation and audit preparation.
- Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- High attention to detail and strong analytical thinking.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary cybersecurity environment,
IAT II Certification Requirement:
Candidate must have one of the following DoD-approved IAT II certifications:
- CompTIA Security+ CE
- CCNA Security
- CySA+
- GSEC
- CSA+
- Any other DoD 8570-approved IAT II certification
Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field .
Responsibilities:
Vulnerability & Risk Analysis:
- Conduct vulnerability scans and malware scans to identify security risks.
- Analyze findings and support remediation planning with system administrators and engineers.
- Monitor systems for alerts, anomalies, and potential threats.
Accreditation & Audit Support:
- Support development and maintenance of cybersecurity accreditation packages.
- Assist with audits and compliance reviews to ensure alignment with DoD/Navy standards.
- Contribute to RMF artifacts, POA&Ms, cybersecurity reports, and documentation.
Operational Cybersecurity Support:
- Assist with implementing security controls and hardening measures.
- Support continuous monitoring, reporting, and risk tracking activities.
- Participate in security assessments, inspections, and mitigation planning.
