Job Description
As a Systems Performance Engineer, within one of our systems engineering teams, you will provide performance prediction and analysis expertise to major defence programmes, developing the latest Complex Weapons capabilities for the UK Armed Forces in response to advanced threats in all domains (Air, Land, Sea).\n\nExpect assignments across concept, assessment or demonstration phase contracts, covering one of the MBDA product lines. System Performance is an essential part of the system design process and a key indicator as to whether the design is suitable.\n\nSalary: Up to £52,500 depending on experience\n\nDynamic (hybrid) working: 5 days per week on-site due to workload classification\n\nSecurity Clearance: UK National only\n\nRestrictions and/or limitations relating to and/or rights to work may apply. Missile performance studies use models of the system to estimate key performance indicators such as range and terminal accuracy, among others\n\nThe System Performance Engineer will:\nPlan and conduct technical studies into missile performance, using complex mathematical models, to help the project understand key system design choices\nDevelop a good understanding of how the wider system affects performance and the knock on impacts of changes to the design\nWork with SMEs in Aerodynamics, Propulsion, Lethality, Guidance, Control & Navigation, Seekers (and others) to understand how each of these contribute to system performance\nReport performance data in a clear and concise way in internal design reviews and external performance statements to customers\nUse your expertise to help to develop training material for new engineersWhat we are looking for:\nExcellent analytical skills\nExperience in running and analysing complex computer simulations (e.g. 6 Degrees of Freedom models)\nCompetent with MATLABIf you have enthusiasm for any of the following, please apply: \nUse of mathematical models to assess system behaviour\nData analysis using MATLAB and Simulink (or similar)\nCapturing and presenting technical data in a clear and concise for expert and non-expert audiences\nExposure to the physical principles of aerodynamics, propulsion, guidance and controlOur company: Peace is not a given, Freedom is not a given, Sovereignty is not a given\n\nMBDA is a leading defence organisation.
