We are currently hiring aSYSTEMS ENGINEER (WINDOWS)to design, implement, and maintain IT infrastructure support for a Government customer.

This position is located on-site in Fredericksburg, VA.
Position Description:
The Systems Engineer (Windows) will provide expert-level support for the design, implementation, and maintenance of Microsoft Windows-based systems within a secure DoD environment. The engineer will be responsible for managing Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Exchange, virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware), and enterprise storage systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in DoD IT operations and a proactive approach to system optimization, security compliance, and service delivery.
Required Skills:
- Design, configure, and maintain Microsoft Windows Server environments, including Active Directory and Exchange
- Administer and support virtualization platforms such as VMware and associated storage systems (e.g., NetApp, EMC)
- Implement and manage patching, antivirus, and backup solutions in compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards (e.g., STIGs, IAVMs)
- Support system integration, testing, and deployment in accordance with DevSecOps and Agile methodologies
- Respond to incidents, outages, and service requests, including after-hours support for mission-critical systems
- Participate in Change Advisory Boards (CABs), Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), and technical working groups
- Maintain system documentation, architecture diagrams, and configuration baselines
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure systems meet all security and accreditation requirements
- Provide support for cloud-based directory services (e.g., Azure AD) and hybrid infrastructure environments
Required Experience:
- 3 years of experience in operating systems design and implementation for Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, VMWare, storage systems (e.g., NetApp, EMC), and TCP/IP
- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity compliance frameworks (e.g., DoD 8500 series, STIGs)
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills in a networked corporate environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-security, mission-driven setting
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Certifications:
- DoD 8570.01-M compliant certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CISSP, or equivalent)
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate or similar certification
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent is a plus
