Systems Engineer - Services in Leesburg

We are looking for a highly skilled Systems Engineers to help design, build and maintain our internal services. A successful candidate will have experience self-hosting and building services from open-source tools. The positions are available in the following locations:
Leesburg, VA / Melbourne, FL / Colorado Springs, CO

Positions are available at multiple levels, mid-level (5+ years) and senior level (8+ years).

Responsibilities:

• Make objective and technically sound recommendations for potential future hardware and software purchases
• Provide O&M on existing Linux based services
• Provide tier 2/3 technical support
• Manage user input and make suggestions for service improvements

Qualifications:

Required:

• B.S. in relevant field (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, etc.) with 8+ years’ experience, or 10+ years’ experience in a relevant field.
• Must be able to obtain a security clearance, therefore U.S. citizenship is required.
• Must be able to work in the local office 5 days a week. Experience installing software and patches on self-hosted Linux-based computers
• Experience with configuration management software
• Experience with virtualization and containerization
• Highly familiar with both Linux and Mac systems (Linux servers, Mac laptops)

:

• Administration and performance tuning of open-source software (e.g. Apache, NGINX, squid, OpenSearch, Nextcloud, Zabbix, AWX, etc.)
• Experience with monitoring systems (Zabbix, Nagios, or similar OpenSource solutions)
• Ability to write scripts as needed (e.g., shell scripts, Python, Perl, PHP, etc.)
• Understanding of PKI, CA's, SMIME, etc.
• Experience deploying / maintaining common business services
