The Systems Engineer is responsible for supervising, coordinating, designing, developing, and performing additions and changes to network hardware, infrastructure server environments, operating systems, and attached devices. This includes investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new network hardware and software. The Systems Engineer provides direct support in the day-to-day operations of network hardware and operating systems, including evaluating system utilization, monitoring response time, and providing primary support for detecting and correcting operational problems.
MINIMUM 8 YEARS EXPERIENCE
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, coordinate, and design, develop, and perform additions and changes to network hardware and infrastructure server environments.
- Perform investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new network hardware and software.
- Provide direct support in the day-to-day operations of network hardware and operating systems, including evaluating system utilization and monitoring response time.
- Troubleshoot at the physical level of the network using network measurement hardware and software, as well as physical checking and testing of hardware devices.
- Troubleshoot at the logical level using communication protocols.
- Participate in planning, design, technical review, and implementation for new network infrastructure hardware and network operating systems for voice and data communication networks.
- Perform systems management and integration functions.
- Exhibit proficiency with virtualization technologies and network administration.
- Maintain network infrastructure standards, including network communication protocols such as TCP/IP.
- Provide technical consultation, training, and support to IT staff as designated by the government.
- Diagnose and resolve complex communication problems.
- Design, deploy, evaluate, test, certify, patch, and address interoperability issues for the base storage & backup system and all features, components, and application dependencies.
- Ensure systems are current with approved patches and assist with certification and system accreditation tasks.
- Compose SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and Quick Reference guides for users.
- Provide top-level technical expertise responsible for the design and development of a client/server environment.
- Develop strategy for client/server systems and the design infrastructure necessary to support that strategy.
- Advise on the selection of technological purchases regarding processing, data storage, data access, and applications development.
- Set standards for the client/server relational database structure for the organization.
- Advise management on the feasibility of potential future projects.
Qualifications:
- 8 years of proven experience in supervising, coordinating, and performing additions and changes to network hardware and infrastructure server environments.
- Strong technical skills in network hardware, software, and operating systems.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 Power Platform and SharePoint.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting at both the physical and logical levels of the network.
- Experience with planning, design, technical review, and implementation of network infrastructure hardware and network operating systems.
- Strong systems management and integration skills.
- Proficiency with virtualization technologies and network administration.
- Experience in maintaining network infrastructure standards and communication protocols such as TCP/IP.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and training skills.
- Experience in designing and developing client/server environments.
- Ability to set standards and develop strategy for client/server systems.
- Knowledge of current technological trends and best practices.
Skills:
- Experience with government IT environments and regulations.
- Certification in relevant IT fields
Requirements: Bachelors degree; Minimum 8 years experience; Top Secret Security Clearance; Counterintelligence Polygraph a priority
