Job Description

Job Title: Systems Engineer\n\nLocation: Portsmouth Naval Base. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role\n\nSalary: Up to £43,000 depending on skills and experience\n\nWhat you’ll be doing:\n\nApplying Systems Thinking to complex system challenges\n\nAssisting Principal and Senior Engineers in providing stakeholder requirements elicitation, analysis and management to ensure systems engineering deliverables are developed to satisfy stakeholder needs\n\nUnderstanding and applying strategies around system development across a typical lifecycle, from requirement elicitation through to qualification, including integration, verification and validation activities\n\nSupporting identification of system emergent properties, trade-offs, optimisation, risk management and verification activities\n\nLiaising with multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient engagement in support of system realisation\n\nWorking with multiple Asset Management Service Hubs to tailor and deliver the Systems Engineering capabilities and services as required\n\nUtilising Model Based Systems Engineering Tools (e.g. Enterprise Architect) to capture system definition\n\nYour skills and experiences:\n\nExperience of V-model or the full product lifecycle\n\nDeveloping Systems Engineering experience and exposure to the ISO 15288 lifecycle\n\nFamiliar with Model based Systems Engineering and Digital Enabling Technologies, including relevant toolsets and collaborative work environments\n\nAn awareness of marine/ship systems would be desirable but not compulsory, for example- HVAC, Fuel Systems, Gas Turbine Services, Fresh Water Services, Sea Water Services, Black and Grey Water Systems, Bilge and Sullage Systems, Gas Systems, Intake and Exhaust Systems, Chilled Water Systems, Lub Oil and Hydraulics\n\nBe qualified to degree level, or equivalent, in Systems Engineering or a related discipline, being a member of a relevant professional body, and be working towards an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) level, with an ambition of obtaining professional registration in the future\n\nBenefits:\n\nAs well as a competitive pension scheme, BAE Systems also offers employee share plans, an extensive range of flexible discounted health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits, including a green car scheme, private health plans and shopping discounts – you may also be eligible for an annual incentive.\n\nThe Systems Engineering team:\n\nJoin the Asset Management Warship Technical Authority’s high-performing Systems Engineering team, delivering whole-ship, systems, and equipment engineering support across the Naval enterprise.

This role offers hands-on experience in requirements definition and management, system decomposition, and platform management systems.
