Job Description
Systems Engineer \n\nInitial 6-month contract\nOnsite in Southampton (full time)\n£72.80ph, UMB, inside IR35\nSC level Security Clearance MUST be in place prior to starting this contract.\n\nDue to the nature of work, this contract is only open to sole British .\n\nOur client, a leading entity in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Systems Engineer to join them on a contract basis in Southampton. This is a pivotal role involving the delivery of specific work packages supporting the communications system development. The candidate will be engaging across a range of technical disciplines such as RF integration, free space optical communications, digital signal processing, waveforms and network engineering.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nManagement of system requirements\nFeasibility studies to determine system architecture\nModelling of communication system waveforms and networks\nProducing clear and concise technical documentation for your work\nReporting to the Project Engineering Lead, providing updates on work package completion\nCollaborating with the waveform team on airborne communication projects to develop and deliver waveforms\nManaging your workload responsibly while displaying strong team working behaviours\nEngaging with customers and suppliers as necessary\n\nJob Requirements:\n\nRequired:\n\nExperience in the development of military and/or civil communication systems\nProficiency in communication system analysis, modelling, and simulation tools (MATLAB )\nAbility to produce detailed technical reports\nGraduate degree in relevant engineering, mathematics or related scientific discipline\nIdeally:\n\nKnowledge of Communication Air Interface Protocols (including modulation and coding schemes)\nUnderstanding of mobile communications waveforms and networks\nKnowledge of RF communication system hardware implementation (such as transmitters, receivers, filters, software defined radio)\nUnderstanding of communications security (COMSEC) architectures\nKnowledge of digital modulation, channel coding (FEC), and filtering in the digital signal processing domain\nAbility to adapt mathematical algorithms for efficient FPGA implementation \n\nIf you have the relevant skills and experience in systems engineering within the Defence & Security sector, we would love to hear from you.
