The Systems Engineer III will be responsible for project consulting on the design creation, configuration, and implementation of customer’s Local and Wide Area Networks (LANs/WANs), virtualization infrastructure, their core components, servers, interconnections, and endpoint systems. Additionally, the Systems Engineer III will participate in Team Management functions.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform network analysis of client networks to identify deficiencies and make recommendations for stabilization.
  • Generate and maintain configuration documentation for all client production networks and systems.
  • Careful creation and modification of internal processes and procedures to be used by other engineers Implementation of a variety of network technology for clients including but not limited to: Server virtualization, SANs, groupware, Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, routing and switching, enterprise backup solutions etc… Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity design, implementation, and testing
  • Provides technical assistance to both internal and external users for installed applications and remote access solutions
  • Provide support to other engineers and function as an escalation engineer
  • The Systems Engineer III must be able to research and resolve client technical issues using problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Document problem resolutions in the support knowledgebase
  • System and Network hardware/software/firmware upgrades for clients and WST
  • Lead and manage a team of engineers throughout a client project to include being the escalation engineer for critical issues
  • Maintain professional and considerate work relationships inside and outside the department.
  • After-hours and weekend work as necessary
  • Project engineers are required to set their company-provided cell phone to provide an audible alarm for text messages and phone calls outside of normal business hours
  • Maintain relevant, up-to-date knowledge of Operating Systems and support technologies
  • This position requires 50 - 100% travel within the Tampa Bay area. Minimal and occasional travel, including overnight stays otherwise. Remote work is allowed when applicable.

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Install, operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair servers, SANs, networks and desktop computers for clients
  • Implement system and software upgrades for clients
  • Identify and resolve hardware and software problems for Microsoft Windows based systems
  • Identify and resolve issues in virtualized environments to include Microsoft and VMware
  • Work closely with other team members and Service Desk personnel to resolve problems and document solutions for clients
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with clients and other support members with basic troubleshooting skills
  • Contribute to process documentation and improvement for clients and WST

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • Associates Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to architect complex network solutions
  • Ability to communicate design concepts and justifications to C-level clients
  • Ability to create and develop detailed, scripted instructions
  • The ability to translate technical terms into non-technical

  • Cisco, Meraki, HP, Ubiquity switching products
  • Cisco, Meraki, Sonicwalls, Watchguard and Ubiquity firewalls
  • SQL Server (basic administration and maintenance)
  • VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Cisco, Meraki and Ubiquity Wireless
  • Cisco Unified Communication Platform, 3CX, Cisco Webex calling
  • Remote Desktop and Citrix
  • SAN – Storage Area Networks (iSCSI & Fiber)

  • Microsoft Exchange
  • Microsoft Windows Servers from 2008-2022
  • Cisco Networking including Routers, Switches and Firewalls
  • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Technology
  • Phone systems

Certifications

  • Exchange or SQL Certification
  • VCP
  • MCITP or MCSE
  • CCNA

Very strong organizational and time-management skills are required. A minimum of 10 years previous technical or field service experience. Must be able to use basic hand tools, climb a ladder, and lift 50 lbs.
