Location: Virtual – Must be located near a major airline hub (Atlanta area ideally, Houston also an option)
Duration: 3 months (possibility of extension)
Client: Fortune 10 Company
Pay Range: $50 to $60/hr W2
Schedule:
- 40 hours/week, M–F, 9–5
- No holidays or overtime expected
- Remote when not traveling (~75% travel required; majority East Coast, one West Coast site)
Job Description
- Provide onsite testing support post-launch at fulfillment centers, sort centers, and delivery stations.
- Conduct testing feedback and system validation (systems already installed).
- Coordinate with customers and site teams.
- Live building support and post-go-live validation.
- Analyze data, identify capacity risks, and create punch list vendor action items to ensure operational excellence.
The successful engineer in this role will:
- Understand how commodity servers, operating systems, and networks function, perform, and scale.
- Possess superb troubleshooting, project management, and problem analysis skills.
- Drive technical innovation and efficiency in infrastructure operations via automation.
- Create processes that enhance operational workflow and improve customer impact.
- Dive deep to resolve problems at their root, looking for patterns amenable to long-term solutions.
- Prefer simple, repeatable solutions over complex, failure-prone ones.
- Adopt best practices in documentation, testing, security, operational support at scale, and efficient use of resources.
- Develop metrics to demonstrate performance improvements in operational efficiency.
Core Requirements:
- Relentless passion for frugality and out-of-the-box engineering.
- Strong system troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency and experience in automation.
- Good understanding of standard internet protocols (Ethernet, ARP, IP, ICMP, UDP, TCP, SSL, DNS, HTTP).
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field (required).
- Prior Material Handling Equipment (MHE) experience (required).
- 5–7 years’ experience with testing programs and validating programs (required).
- Proficiency and experience in automation.
Top 3 Must-Have Hard Skills (in order of importance):
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field.
