Overview:

Veeco is the market leader in laser annealing process equipment. Our high-performance systems drive innovation in device energy efficiency, which allows our customers to maximize device performance, improve productivity and achieve lower cost of ownership. Veeco is looking for a highly motivated full-time Systems Engineer with design, prototype integration, and qualification experience. You will be interfacing with all disciplines to drive optimal and effective designs.

Responsibilities:

Support the development of technologies for semiconductor equipment systems including Laser Annealing and other products.

Develop concepts and drive design and testing of new components/sub-systems across product lines, potentially including gas delivery systems, gas sensing/monitoring systems, and/or laser metrology systems to enable critical equipment capabilities.

Determine the system/component specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.

Contribute to the design of hardware and software features, prototype integration, and testing of assemblies, subsystems, and systems.

Develop and execute experimental test plans to facilitate a thorough analysis to validate system performance.

Use problem-solving methods and systems analysis to break down and solve complex problems, while working with cross-functional teams.

Perform advanced data and statistical analysis to study system and process output signals and subsequently identify and/or resolve issues.

Develop and evaluate concepts and designs for next- systems.

Qualifications:

B.S. degree in atechnical engineeringfield and aminimumof 5 years ofexperience; or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience; or a PhDis required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Able to break down complex problems with limited data to come to solutions - strong critical thinking capability

Semiconductor or similar industry experience is .

Have excellent written and oral communication skills (customer and supplier interfaces)

Commitment to achieving results while under time constraints, with a high level of energy and a high level of dedication

Willing to dive into complex issues and get to the bottom of the root causes and propose practical solutions

Ability to interface with Electrical, Mechanical, Software, and Product Engineers to design system operation and troubleshoot issues

Ability to perform scripting to solve problems or prove functionality

Able to interface effectively with all levels of the organization

Able to communicate with multidisciplinary teams and be willing to take on responsibility, follow throughto completion on simultaneous assignments while remaining on a schedule

Ability to quickly absorb technical information from documentation and on the job training

Experience with designing and executing test plans is required.

Experience with product development process, requirements definition, requirements validation is a plus.

Knowledge of some of the following systems is strongly recommended:

Pneumatic, gas delivery, gas mixing, and gas flow control systems

laser systems (alignment, theory, design)

electromechanical systems (stages, motors, electronics, boards)

thermal systems (heating, cooling, temperature regulation, heat transfer)

Control systems and feedback loops

Optical metrology systems

The expected salary range for this position is $124,800-$158,080, plus a bonus opportunity.
