Systems Engineer - Central Services (On-Prem Focus) Location: Coventry (City Centre) Salary: Up to £55,000 | Office-based The Role Are you a talented Systems Engineer looking to be at the core of technical operations for a group of growing UK businesses? We're working with a central services function supporting six business units across the UK, and they're looking for a 3rd Line Systems Engineer to join their Coventry-based infrastructure team. This role sits at the core of the organisation's on-prem IT operations , providing third-line support and project implementation across infrastructure services.
The ideal candidate will work closely with all business units to help transition systems into a unified central domain , ensuring minimal disruption and maximum efficiency. While the broader business is embracing cloud for applications, this central function is very much on-prem focused - so your expertise will be crucial in supporting, expanding, and modernising their current systems. Benefits: Based in the heart of Coventry - easily accessible via train, with subsidised parking available nearby Part of a close-knit 3-person infrastructure team supporting all UK locations Salary up to £55,000 depending on experience and certification level (Level 3+ preferred - CCNA, etc.) 33 days holiday (including bank holidays) - with the option to buy up to 5 more days annually Cycle to Work Scheme Long-term growth potential as the group continues to expand across the UK The ideal candidate: This is a collaborative, growing function - ideal for someone who: Has worked through technical adversity and can clearly articulate how they troubleshoot and resolve complex issues Wants to grow with the business, specialise over time, and help shape the way central services operate Understands the challenge of working across multiple businesses with different standards - and is flexible enough to manage them effectively Key Skills and Qualifications: VMware (must-have - not Hyper-V) HPE Technologies - HP switches, servers, and storage Microsoft 365 rollouts - including Intune, Exchange, Teams, and Entra ID Day-to-day infrastructure and networking - ideally with strong networking fundamentals (Cisco experience welcome) Occasional UK travel may be required, but 95% of the time you'll be based in Coventry .
