About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Systems Engineer specializing in automation to design and implement solutions that enhance the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of IT infrastructure and services. This role sits within the renewable energy sector, supporting a leading provider of residential solar and energy services. You will work at the intersection of operations and engineering, leveraging automation and observability to drive operational excellence. Job Description
As a Systems Engineer (Automation), you will:
Automation & Systems Enablement

  • Design, build, and maintain automation for infrastructure operations and workflow orchestration using Python and low/no-code solutions where appropriate.
  • Deliver reusable automation patterns, scripts, and toolchains to reduce manual effort and mitigate operational risk.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment processes.

Reliability & Observability

  • Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to improve service health, availability, and performance.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and drive long-term reliability improvements.
  • Follow change control procedures, lead peer reviews, risk assessments, and rollback planning.
  • Support scalability and resilience of core services through performance tuning and proactive risk reduction.

Delivery & Collaboration

  • Translate stakeholder needs into technical solutions with measurable KPIs.
  • Communicate status and risks, maintain system documentation, support escalations, and mentor teammates on best practices.
  • Drive incident response and resolution by triaging alerts, troubleshooting service issues, documenting actions taken, and contributing to post-incident reviews.

Qualifications
Required

  • Proven experience designing and operating APIs/integrations (REST, webhooks, event-driven patterns).
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
  • 35 years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, Platform, or Infrastructure Automation role.
  • Strong scripting/coding skills with software development best practices and Git version control.
  • Hands-on cloud experience with AWS and modern authentication/security principles.

  • SaaS Integrations: Experience integrating cloud-based business solutions (Salesforce, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office 365).
  • Database Management: Familiarity with DBMS (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and query optimization.
  • DevOps Practices: Experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows.
  • IAM: Knowledge of and Access Management systems, including SSO/SAML integration with cloud platforms.
  • Project Management: Proficiency with tracking tools such as Jira.
  • Incident Response: Experience handling service degradation or outages, root cause analysis, and long-term remediation.
