MicroAutomation is looking for a Systems Engineer (SE) to support and provide technical assistance to our Crystal City, VA-based Government client. Responsibilities include the design, delivery and support of our 9-1-1 solution. Additionally, the SE will assist in resolving client and server application issues, troubleshooting network or telephony issues, configuration of client and server operating systems within a VM infrastructure, and providing immediate support. Complex problems that require nuanced instruction shall be escalated to higher-tier support teams. This position will be required to commute to a secure Government location and will be deemed on call for onsite support, if needed, at that location with other similar staff outside of normal working hours.

Responsibilities include:

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues onsite related to installed systems, applications, and infrastructure
• Track customer issues via ticketing system through to resolution, within SLA agreements
• Properly escalate unresolved issues to appropriate internal teams
• Take ownership of customer issues reported and seeing problems through to resolution
• Provide prompt and accurate feedback to customers
• Document technical knowledge in the form of notes and manuals
• Maintain professional relationships with clients
• Interface with all levels of management, vendors and other internal and external groups and customers, exhibiting a positive influence at all levels

Qualifications: 

• US Citizenship is required
• Must already have an ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE
• Five to seven years of directly related IT experience
  

Experience/Skills:

• Strong technical, analytical, and organizational skills
• Proven work experience as a Technical Support Engineer, Desktop Support Engineer, IT Help Desk Technician or similar role
• Proven administrative experience with Windows/Linux/VM environments and SQL Server
• Expert knowledge of data network and telecommunications systems including IP addressing and naming (DNS, DHCP), VLANs, spanning-tree, VPN/GRE tunnels, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF and SIP Session Border Controllers
• Experience working with HyperV and/or similar virtualization platforms
• Experience with SIP based communications (Asterisk a plus)
• Ability to analyze packet captures using wireshark
• Familiarity with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF), DoD cyber-security (STIGS / Scans / JITIC) and secure network design knowledge
• Outstanding written, communication and interpersonal skills required
• Able to clearly communicate plans, alternatives, and recommendations in both written and verbal form
• Strong problem solving / troubleshooting skills
• Ability to effectively organize tasks, manage multiple priorities and deliver on customer commitments on schedule
• Strong customer-facing communication skills with ability to convey complex technical issues in business terms

Experience/Skills:

• Strong experience with networking, including: layer 2 networks, VLAN tagging, QoS concepts
• Experience with voice switches and gateways
• Understanding of VoIP protocols SIP & RTP
• Knowledge of 911 systems and PSAPs
• Cisco certifications are a plus

Must have an approved DoD 8570 certification: CCNA-Security, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, or SSCP equivalent to the minimum IAT Level II with CE certifications. The staff member will be required to maintain the needed certification(s).
