Tensley Consulting is seeking a System Engineer to support cybersecurity architecture, information assurance engineering, and system architecture development across mission-critical systems and enterprise environments. The System Engineer provides technical expertise supporting system requirements analysis, architecture development, and engineering activities focused on secure system design and cybersecurity integration. This role works closely with government stakeholders, cybersecurity architects, and engineering teams to translate mission requirements into technical solutions that support secure system architectures and enterprise cybersecurity initiatives. The System Engineer supports the full system lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture development, integration planning, testing, and engineering evaluation. Responsibilities include supporting system engineering documentation, architecture modeling, cybersecurity engineering analysis, and evaluation of secure system capabilities across enterprise environments. The System Engineer will also contribute to the development of system architectures, support information assurance initiatives, and assist with engineering analysis that informs technical decision-making and improves mission system security and performance.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
Seven (7) years of experience as a System Engineer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Five (5) years of additional system engineering experience may be substituted in place of the degree.
Salary:
$155,000–$185,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position, but is not guaranteed. Salary is based on experience, location, and contractual requirements which could fall outside of the range listed.
, Required Skills
Seven (7) years of demonstrated experience supporting systems engineering activities within complex enterprise, cybersecurity, or mission systems environments.
Experience performing system requirements analysis and translating operational requirements into technical system designs
Experience supporting system architecture development and systems engineering documentation
Experience participating in system design, development, integration, and engineering evaluation activities
Experience supporting system lifecycle engineering activities including requirements development, architecture design, integration, testing, and sustainment
Experience collaborating with engineering teams, analysts, and government stakeholders
Experience developing technical reports, engineering documentation, or system analysis assessments
Candidates must demonstrate experience in at least two (2) of the following areas:
- Experience supporting DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) modeling or DoDAF-based system engineering analysis
- Experience supporting cryptographic development, implementation, or analysis
- Experience supporting Information Assurance (IA) or cybersecurity architectures, concepts, principles, use cases, or standards
- Experience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community (IC), or federal cybersecurity policy, directives, or standards (e.g., NIST)

Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or Intelligence Community (IC) programs
Experience supporting cybersecurity architecture development or enterprise security engineering initiatives
Experience supporting system architecture modeling using DoDAF or model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approaches
Experience supporting cybersecurity engineering or information assurance initiatives within classified environments
Experience supporting security architecture, risk analysis, or cybersecurity capability development
Experience supporting engineering trade studies, architecture analysis, or system capability evaluations
Experience supporting cybersecurity frameworks, standards, or compliance initiatives within federal environments
