System Design Engineer – Low Voltage
Location: Hybrid (Minneapolis, MN) – About 2 days/week in-office, flexible
Compensation: $70,000–$110,000 + 10% annual bonus

What You’ll Do:
As the System Design Engineer – Low Voltage, you’ll work closely with sales, project teams, and clients to design, scope, and estimate intelligent building systems, with a focus on physical security. You’ll blend technical expertise with creativity to deliver solutions that exceed expectations.
On a typical day, you might:
- Partner with sales to define physical security requirements and develop the right solutions for commercial buildings.
- Design and estimate low-voltage systems such as Intrusion Detection, Access Control, Video Surveillance, DAS, and Structured Cabling.
- Conduct site surveys and translate findings into precise designs and cost estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure a smooth transition from design to delivery.
- Build relationships with customers, contractors, and suppliers.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in low-voltage system design, ideally with experience in Bid-Spec and Design-Build projects.
- Ability to interpret construction documents and apply industry best practices.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to design Intrusion Detection, Access Control, Video Surveillance, DAS, and Structured Cabling systems for commercial buildings.
