Title: Sustaining Technician (Electrical / Test)
Type: FTE, Salaried Exempt
Location: Onsite Cleveland, Ohio
Wright Technical Services is supporting a leading manufacturing organization in their search for a Sustaining Technician to support production, testing, and continuous improvement efforts across advanced welding and plasma cutting systems.
This role is focused on hands-on troubleshooting, product validation, and lifecycle support, working closely with engineering and operations teams to improve product reliability, manufacturability, and overall performance.
Job Description (Duties and Responsibilities)
- Work in a team environment supporting production and sustaining engineering efforts
- Troubleshoot and resolve advanced product and production-related technical issues
- Track and resolve First Pass Yield (FPY) issues and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Collect and analyze electrical measurement data from PCBs and returned field units
- Review non-conforming components and support root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Provide technical support to production teams to minimize downtime and disruptions
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Service, and Engineering teams
- Support component obsolescence efforts through testing and evaluation of alternative components
- Assist with new product introductions (NPI) to build product knowledge and support early-stage production
- Perform testing and validation of design changes to ensure performance and compliance
- Build and modify functional prototypes in a lab environment
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, design optimization, and process improvements
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership
Basic Requirements
- Level II: Vocational training + 3+ years of experience OR GED + 5+ years of experience
- Level III: Vocational training + 5+ years OR GED + 7+ years OR associate's degree in related field
- Experience with testing, troubleshooting, and problem-solving
- Ability to read and interpret electrical prints and schematics
- Experience using digital multimeters (oscilloscope experience is a plus)
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing and lab environment
- Ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Hands-on mindset with ability to support physical testing and product work
