We are seeking an experienced and motivated Survey Project Manager (PLS). This position is ideal for a licensed survey professional who thrives on technical precision, strong leadership, and delivering high-quality results. As a key member of our team, you'll manage survey projects from concept through completion-ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and client satisfaction every step of the way.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee survey project operations, including field data collection, boundary determination, and mapping.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining budgets, schedules, and quality standards.
- Prepare proposals, cost estimates, and project scopes of work.
- Conduct and verify measurements on, above, and below land surfaces to determine boundary lines, topography, and property features.
- Research and analyze historical records, deeds, plats, and prior surveys to confirm or establish boundaries and rights-of-way.
- Prepare detailed survey reports, legal descriptions, plats, and 2D/3D visualizations using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other tools.
- Coordinate with internal teams, including engineers, planners, and designers, to provide accurate data for design and construction.
- Serve as primary client contact for survey projects, providing updates, technical guidance, and professional consultation.
- Review, certify, and seal final survey documents as required.
- Supervise, mentor, and support field and office survey personnel to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient operations.
- Implement and maintain QA/QC processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Ensure all survey work complies with state and federal laws, local regulations, and company safety policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geomatics, Surveying, or Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 10 years of progressive surveying experience.
- Active NC Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license or able to obtain within six months.
- Proven ability to manage complex survey projects from planning through delivery.
- Strong understanding of boundary, topographic, and construction surveying principles.
- Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and modern surveying instruments (GPS, robotic total stations, and data collectors).
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to guide and develop field and office teams.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record; ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
Qualifications
- Proficiency with Trimble Business Center, Leica Infinity, or similar processing software.
- Experience with 3D scanning (Leica) and drone/UAS survey methods.
- Multi-state PLS licensure (South Carolina and/or Virginia)
- Familiarity with photogrammetry and LiDAR surveying techniques.
