Job Summary

As a Supervisor, NDT, you will provide supervision and inspection support to 2nd-shift employees. In this role you will assume technical responsibility for the NDT staff, including, but not limited to, selecting testing methods and techniques, preparing and verifying adequacy of procedures and instructions, conducting and directing training, and performing performance checks.

Essential Functions

    \n
  • Supervises production operations for assigned units or during an assigned shift.
  • \n

  • Supervises workers that operate production machinery, assemble items, perform quality control, or package goods for shipment.
  • \n

  • Notifies maintenance or engineering departments when equipment requires maintenance or repair.
  • \n

  • Monitors output of assigned area(s) against established schedules or quality goals. Coordinates the flow of work through the department and ensures that department has sufficient levels of inventory to meet demand and is staffed appropriately.
  • \n

  • Leads and directs the work of other employees and has some responsibility for personnel actions related to hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions with concurrence from the HR Directors & General Managers.

      \nAdditional Responsibilities

        \n
      • Select the method and technique for specific tests, and preparing and verifying the adequacy of procedures and work instructions.
      • \n

      • Approve NDT procedures and work instructions for technical adequacy.
      • \n

      • Have general knowledge of other NDT methods and product manufacturing and test technologies.
      • \n

      • Become familiar with the codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the method as utilized by General Dynamics.
      • \n



      Required Qualifications

        \n
      • \nRequired education and experience: Associate's Degree and 3-5 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
      • \n

      • \nCritical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
      • \n



      Qualifications

      • Ability to work as part of a team. Decision-making skills. Problem/situation analysis. Project management skills. Planning skills.
      • \n

      • Have the skills and knowledge to set up and standardize equipment, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results.
      • \n

      • Have the skills and knowledge to perform performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard.
      • \n

      • 3-5 years of experience in NDT
      • \n



      Physical Requirements

        \n
      • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
      • \n

      • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
      • \n

      • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
      • \n

      • May need to stand for long periods of time.
      • \n

      • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
      • \n

      • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
      • \n

      • May be requested to work a different shift.
      • \n

      • This position is Safety-Sensitive.
      • \n
