Job Summary

Establish and maintain centralized Corrosion Control & Damage Prevention programs at Berkshire Gas. Responsible for coordination of bargaining unit employees and outside contractors performing tasks associated with the Cathodic protection system & the Damage prevention programs. The supervisor will be responsible for compliance with Federal code and State Regulations associated with both Damage Prevention and Corrosion Control. Review and communicate program metrics & performance to management team. Provide review and guidance on operational best practices. Responsible for electronic corrosion data inspection processes and inspection databases. Oversee the damage prevention program including scheduling, tracking and reporting according to Berkshire Gas Work Practices/Gas Operating Procedures. Responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, tracking and reporting a statewide Damage Prevention Program for Berkshire Gas to insure protection against any damages that could impact the Berkshire gas facilities. May interact with regulatory agencies, local municipalities, Massachusetts Dig Safe, Industry Organizations, and third-party contractors to review problems/concerns and ensure compliance. Perform damage investigations on any damages that occurs within the system. The supervisor will support gas field operations and other departments within the Avangrid organization & execute other duties as requested.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and manage employees performing daily corrosion control & damage prevention activities to safely meet Federal and State mandated requirements.

Ensures compliance with Federal & State Regulatory requirements associated with Damage Prevention & Corrosion Control programs.

Responsible to review & assist in the development of policies/procedures associated with Damage prevention & Corrosion Control.

Oversee Corrosion Control & Damage prevention initiatives, budgets & cost control.

Responsible for Corrosion Control & damage prevention goals and objectives and ensuring alignment with department and corporate goals.

Perform performance evaluations, salary adjustments, provides coaching and counseling toward performance improvement and guides development of staff within group.

Responsible for the preparation and communication of reports to document performance in meeting department, corporate, and regulatory goals and requirements.

Act as liaison for the Company with customers as well as State and municipal agencies to coordinate efforts.

Interface with and supports multiple departments within Avangrid gas operations.

Provides resources and technical expertise to support the design, operation, maintenance within natural gas distribution systems.

Schedule and monitor work and prepare reports on the status of the Corrosion control & Damage Prevention Programs, as requested/needed.

Recommends improvements to material, construction and operating standards related to Damage Prevention & Corrosion Control.

Initiates work orders/job orders associated with the deficiencies identified within Cathodic protection systems.

Work with the Mapping Dept. to acquire maps and update mapping records.

Review and approve invoices for contractor services.

Assist with on-the-job and classroom training for Company and contractor personnel in the areas of Corrosion Control & damage Prevention.

Plans, oversees and coordinates the damage prevention program with the gas departments and various contractor crews.

Works with company and contractor locators to ensure accurate mark outs and investigate any damages when incurred.

Investigate and coordinate resolution of mapping issues between field operation and technical services when needed.

Other duties as assigned.

NOTE: This is a DOT safety-sensitive position. Any applicant transferring into this department from a non-safety-sensitive position will be required to pass a preemployment drug screen. This position requires a current driver's license.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience Required:

Associate degree in a technical field of study with a minimum of 5 years of technical experience in natural gas industry or related construction experience.

High School Diploma/GED equivalent with a minimum of 10 years of experience in natural gas industry or related construction experience.

Bachelor's degree or higher with minimum of 4 years of related experience in gas operations

Skills/Abilities:

Technical skills in the field of corrosion control and knowledge of gas distribution.

Good oral and written skills.

Teamwork orientated.

Technical problem-solving abilities.

Ability to manage complex databases.

Must obtain appropriate licenses, certificates, and operator qualifications for work performed.

Must be able to read mechanical drawings and be able to update mapping records.

Must be proficient in the use of computer technology (iPad, laptop, etc...)

Must be available for response during and after hour emergencies and critical assignments.

Must have knowledge of the distribution system and understand the construction and operation of Distribution Division equipment and tools

Must be able to obtain NACE Certifications.
