SUPERVISOR OF FOOD SERVICES
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Supervisor of Food Services is responsible for overseeing the daily food service operations and management within the agency. The position ensures the timely preparation and delivery of safe and nutritious meals in accordance with budgetary and regulatory guidelines, dietary standards, and organizational policies. This role supervises food service staff and supports staff performance. The Supervisor maintains inventory and supports the overall mission of delivering quality food services for the entire agency.
POSITION STATUS: Exempt

Accountable and responsible for the following results:
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of food service staff, ensuring all staff adhere to the food safety, service standards, and operational procedures.
- Monitor the kitchen and dining areas for cleanliness, sanitation, and organization.
- Assist with staff scheduling and ensure adequate coverage; provide cooking support when necessary.
- Maintain inventory of food and supplies; assist with ordering and receiving deliveries.
- Collaborate with dietitians and management to plan menus that meet nutritional guidelines and expectations.
- Monitor food costs, minimize waste, and adhere to budget guidelines.
- Support the dietary needs of all agency departments, including special diet orders, supplies, and requests.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal food safety regulations.
- Participate in inspections and audits; implement corrective actions as needed.
- Implements Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Utilization Review (UR) studies within the department to ensure quality food service delivery.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Provide support to dietary staff to ensure dietary needs of agency are adequately met.
- Maintains all required agency training requirements and certifications.
- Maintains appropriate personal boundaries with people, clients and families served at The Children's Center of Hamden. Adheres to The Children’s Center of Hamden’s Boundary Code of Ethics.
- Is aware of the Policy and Procedure Manuals and can access information as needed.

High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or related field . Knowledge of nutrition and state health codes.
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in food service in a supervisory or lead role.
ServSafe Certification required.
