Superintendent - Commercial Construction

The Superintendent position is responsible for directly managing a project’s construction activities to meet specifications, delivering the project within budgeted cost and by the scheduled completion date. This position is required to coordinate, plan, and supervise contractors and/or manage activities on projects.
Construction Superintendent Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to the company’s safety program in all phases and areas of the project and instruct appropriate subcontractors to abate the violations
- Participate with management in preparation of the Project Execution Plan, schedule of construction activities, manpower, and construction equipment requirements
- Provide input into the preparation of all job cost reports to accurately reflect actual costs/budget/progress
- Direct and control the project to meet specifications and schedule to produce the expected profit
- Direct and supervise the activities of the Subcontractors in the performance of their duties
- Inform management and subcontractors promptly of any construction schedule changes
- Ensure that adequate manpower is provided as required to meet construction schedules.
- Review all requests for change orders to ensure adequate provisions for direct costs and time extensions are properly documented and promptly submitted
- Knowledgeable of all design documents
- Ensure proper utilization of labor, material, and equipment.
- Ensure that subcontractors are trained, knowledgeable and perform at the required quality level and following Osha safety standards
- Hold subcontractors and vendors accountable for complete work consistent with company’s standards prior to authorizing payment
- Analyze problems and recommend solutions; keep management informed of any issues
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other information necessary for the effective manufacture of quality, commercial construction
- Participating in project kick-off meetings with local building trade
- Safety Tool Talk meetings with Subcontractors
- Cooperate with Client and representatives to keep them informed of construction progress
Construction Superintendent Requirements:
- Degree or Construction or equivalent years of experience
- 5 years of experience in managing construction activities on mid to large-sized projects
- Experience in ground-up and renovation projects
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Computer skills with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project experience.
- Capability of learning new computer programs for project management and reporting.
- Plan Grid Software knowledge or Projects Software
- Maintenance of OSHA 30-hour training.
- Current, valid drivers’ license and evidence state minimum required insurance
