Overview

Energy Jobline is supporting a major international offshore energy development and is seeking an experienced Subsea Engineer to support the design, integration, and delivery of subsea systems across complex offshore projects.

The role focuses on subsea system engineering for wellhead platforms, pipeline tie-backs, and associated infrastructure, ensuring technical integrity, safety, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

 

The Role

The Subsea Engineer will be responsible for coordinating subsea engineering activities from concept through to installation, commissioning, and handover.

Working closely with engineering teams, contractors, and vendors, the role ensures seamless integration of subsea systems including wellheads, Christmas trees, manifolds, pipelines, and control systems.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate subsea engineering activities for wellhead platforms, tie-backs, and pipeline systems
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables including P&IDs, interface drawings, models, and installation procedures
  • Develop specifications and datasheets for subsea equipment including Christmas trees, manifolds, jumpers, umbilicals, and control systems
  • Coordinate with drilling, production, and facilities teams to define subsea system interfaces
  • Review design calculations related to flow assurance, structural integrity, fatigue, and hydrodynamics
  • Ensure compliance with international standards (API, ISO, DNV) and project-specific requirements
  • Participate in design and safety reviews including HAZID, HAZOP, FAT, and SIT
  • Review vendor documentation and ensure alignment with design and operational requirements
  • Support integration between subsea systems and topside control/SCADA systems
  • Oversee fabrication, testing, and inspection of subsea components
  • Provide engineering support during offshore installation, hook-up, and commissioning activities
  • Coordinate subsea tie-in, hydrotesting, and system readiness for start-up
  • Support preparation of as-built documentation and final system handover
  • Act as a key technical interface between project stakeholders and contractors

 

Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in subsea system design and engineering within offshore oil & gas projects
  • In-depth knowledge of subsea equipment including wellheads, Christmas trees, manifolds, pipelines, and control systems
  • Experience in subsea system integration and interface management
  • Understanding of flow assurance, subsea hydraulics, and control systems
  • Familiarity with subsea installation methods, vessels, and ROV operations
  • Experience with subsea engineering tools such as PIPESIM, ANSYS, OrcaFlex, or similar
  • Knowledge of corrosion protection, coatings, and subsea integrity management

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Subsea, Mechanical, Offshore, or Ocean Engineering (Master’s preferred)
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in subsea engineering, with significant experience on offshore projects
  • Experience across FEED, detailed design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as API 6A, API 17 series, ISO 13628, and DNV standards
  • Offshore certification (e.g., BOSIET/FOET) is desirable
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills

 

Additional Information

The advertised day rate applies to independent consultants operating on a contract basis. Candidates who prefer to be engaged as employees of the client may be offered a different remuneration structure.
