Overview
Energy Jobline is supporting a major international energy infrastructure programme and is seeking an experienced Subsea Controls Engineer to support the engineering and delivery of subsea systems associated with offshore production developments.
The role will focus on the design, integration, and installation of subsea infrastructure supporting offshore wellhead platforms and pipeline tie-back systems.
The Role
The Subsea Engineer will coordinate engineering activities related to subsea production systems including wellheads, Christmas trees, manifolds, pipelines, and associated control systems.
Working closely with contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams, the role will ensure subsea systems are designed, installed, and commissioned in accordance with project specifications, safety requirements, and international industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate subsea engineering activities associated with offshore wellhead platform tie-ins and subsea pipeline systems
- Review engineering deliverables including system layouts, technical drawings, and installation procedures
- Support development of specifications and procurement documentation for subsea equipment such as Christmas trees, manifolds, jumpers, umbilicals, and control systems
- Ensure subsea designs comply with applicable industry standards and project performance requirements
- Coordinate technical interfaces between subsea systems and topside control or operational systems
- Review vendor documentation and support integration of subsea equipment packages
- Participate in engineering and safety reviews to validate system design and operational readiness
- Support fabrication, testing, and quality assurance activities for subsea components
- Provide engineering support during offshore installation, commissioning, and system start-up activities
- Contribute to project documentation, system handover, and final as-built deliverables
Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in subsea engineering and offshore production systems
- Knowledge of subsea equipment including wellheads, Christmas trees, manifolds, pipelines, and control systems
- Experience supporting subsea system integration with topside facilities and operational systems
- Understanding of subsea installation activities, offshore operations, and ROV-based intervention
- Familiarity with subsea analysis or design tools such as PIPESIM, ANSYS, or OrcaFlex
- Knowledge of subsea integrity management, corrosion protection, and inspection practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Subsea, Mechanical, Offshore, or Ocean Engineering (Master’s degree advantageous)
- Minimum 10 years’ experience within subsea engineering for offshore oil & gas or energy infrastructure projects
- Experience supporting subsea system design and installation from FEED through commissioning
- Familiarity with industry standards such as API 6A / 17 series, ISO 13628, and DNV subsea standards
- Offshore certification such as BOSIET / FOET is advantageous

The advertised day rate applies to independent consultants operating on a contract basis. Candidates who prefer to be engaged as employees of the client may be offered a different remuneration structure.
