Structural Steel Material Handler
Shift: Mon-Fri (6am to 4:30pm) with optional Saturday OT
Pay: $22-25/hr.
Description:
- Cannonball Recruiting is seeking a Material Handler to move structural steel products within the manufacturing production facility. An ideal candidate will have experience with forklifts, overhead cranes and hoists in a manufacturing environment.
Requirements:
- Proven experience operating forklifts in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Demonstrable experience operating overhead cranes in a manufacturing or heavy fabrication environment.
- Experience working in a structural steel or heavy metal manufacturing environment is highly .
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in a non-climate-controlled environment.
- Good hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Reliable, with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and take on new tasks.
Job Duties:
- Safely and efficiently operate forklifts to load, unload, and transport steel materials, components, and finished products throughout the facility.
- Proficiently operate overhead cranes to lift, move, and position heavy steel beams, plates, and fabricated assemblies in a precise and safe manner.
- Assist in various stages of steel fabrication, which may include cutting, grinding, fitting, and other general labor tasks as assigned.
- Read and interpret work orders and basic blueprints to understand material handling and production requirements.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on forklifts, cranes, and other equipment to ensure safe operating conditions; report any maintenance needs or safety concerns immediately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with other team members, including welders, fitters, and supervisors, to ensure efficient workflow and meet production schedules.
- Secure loads properly to ensure stability and prevent damage during movement.
