NOVA Engineering and Environmental is seeking a Structural Project Manager to join our team in the Buford, GA area.
Primary duties will include:
- Provide technical support required for completion of both routine and unique or complex projects.
- Provide review of projects requiring complex and innovative investigation techniques and the analysis and formulation of recommendations in written reports to clients.
- Serve as a technical advisor to less experienced engineers or technical support personnel on projects.
- Schedule, coordinate, and supervise subcontractor activities when utilized on projects.
- Write field reports, internal correspondence, and sections of formal reports and proposals.
- Maintain and monitor quality standards and practices on all projects.
- Evaluate complex laboratory and field data for in reports.
- Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Interact directly with client and project team on scope of services, communicating project progress and findings and recommendations.
- Write and prepare routine and complex engineering reports detailing services provided, findings, and recommendations.
- Manage project tasks and coordinate with clients in executing requested scope of work.
- Review and submit invoices to client for completed projects
- Assist management team in collecting payments as needed.
- 10% domestic travel.
Essential Functions
For this position the employee will provide forensic and structural engineering and consulting services for client projects in the public and private sectors. This may include performing and/or leading field explorations, nondestructive testing, engineering analysis, calculations and recommendations, design and development of plans and specifications, quality assurance observation, inspection and testing, and the writing, preparation, and review of related reports for the services provided. This position will apply sound engineering principles and communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to clients and project teams, as well as provide assistance to other team members to promote the overall objectives of the company.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or foreign degree equivalent) from an ABET accredited college/university (or a related field)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 4 years of experience working on project sites and coordinating field staff under the guidance of senior engineering professionals
- 4 years of interacting with clients and addressing their needs
- 4 years of working with field staff, construction personnel
- 4 years of using organizational, interpretive analysis, written, and verbal skills
- 4 years of applying project and task management, field investigation, analytical, and computer skills (including MS programs, RADAN, Impact Echo, Proceq PL, AutoCAD, Tekla)
- 4 years of working constructively in diverse teams including engineers, scientists, technicians, and non-technical personnel
- 4 years of taking strong initiative and applying problem-solving skills such as evaluating construction materials using nondestructive testing, developing structural frame models to determine live load capacity and compare to building code requirements and developing restoration recommendations and drawings.
