Job DescriptionThis direct hire opportunity is with a full-service marine repair company that specializes in vessel maintenance, fabrication, and refit projects for tugboats, commercial ships, and offshore vessels. It’s a hands-on, high-skill environment where welders can grow their technical expertise and advance within the maritime industry. Structural Fitter and Welder Duties:
- Weld, cut, and fabricate materials including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel using SMAW, MIG, TIG, and flux-core processes.
- Interpret blueprints and welding symbols to complete precise, code-compliant work.
- Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy and compliance with repair standards.
- Safely operate welding, cutting, and fabrication equipment in shipyard and vessel environments.
- Support vessel repair projects by assisting with setup, inspection, and maintenance of tools and work areas.
As a Structural Fitter and Welder, you’ll perform structural and pipe welding, fabrication, and repair work on marine vessels and equipment, ensuring all welds meet quality, safety, and industry code standards. Schedule:
- Day Shift, Monday–Friday
- 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (overtime and weekends as needed)
Pay:
- $28.00 – $36.00 per hour (based on experience)
Structural Fitter and Welder Requirements:
- At least 2 years of welding or fabrication experience, preferably in a marine or industrial environment.
- Proficiency in stick (SMAW), MIG, TIG, and flux-core welding on steel, aluminum, and stainless materials.
- Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols and complete work to code specifications.
- Skilled in cutting methods such as plasma, oxy-acetylene, and air carbon-arc.
- Strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork in a fast-paced shipyard setting.
