Job Description

A well-established architectural practice with an in-house structural engineering team is looking to appoint a Structural Engineer to join its Sheffield-based office. The consultancy employs around 100 professional staff, with a close-knit engineering team of 13, and delivers innovative, technically robust projects across the UK.\n\nThis is a full-time, predominantly office-based role offering the opportunity to work closely alongside architects and other built-environment professionals in a collaborative, design-led environment.\n\nThe Role\n\nThe successful candidate will be involved in the structural analysis and design of buildings from concept through to construction across a wide range of sectors.\n\nDay-to-day responsibilities include:\n\nStructural analysis and design in steel, concrete, masonry and timber\n\nPreparation of structural calculations, specifications and technical reports\n\nSite inspections and structural appraisals\n\nWorking collaboratively with architects, engineers and external consultants\n\nSupporting projects from early design stages through to delivery\n\nProject Exposure\n\nYou will gain hands-on experience across a diverse portfolio of technically engaging schemes, including:\n\nMulti-million-pound precast concrete university buildings\n\nHigh-rise student accommodation refurbishments and extensions\n\nNew build retail developments for retailers\n\nLarge steel-framed industrial and warehouse schemes\n\nMulti-storey care homes in load-bearing masonry\n\nProjects are delivered nationwide across Residential, Commercial, Retail, Healthcare, Leisure and Student Accommodation sectors.\n\nRequirements\n\nDegree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering\n\nTypically 2+ years' experience in consulting engineering, although candidates outside this range will be considered\n\nStrong understanding of building structures and core structural engineering principles\n\nExperience using hand calculations, spreadsheets and structural design software\n\nExperience with finite element analysis software such as Tekla Structural Designer\n\nStrong communication skills with the ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team\n\nSalary & Benefits\n\nSalary: £30,000 - £40,000, dependent on experience\n\nFull-time office-based role with flexibility for ad hoc home working where required\n\n7.5-hour working day between 8:30am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday\n\n25 days annual leave plus Christmas closure and up to 2 additional concessionary days\n\nRegular CPD seminars\n\nAnnual career reviews\n\nCompany-wide social events\n\nSupportive, progressive and design-focused working culture\n\nIf you would like further details or wish to discuss the opportunity in more depth, please get in touch.\n\nBennett and Game Recruitment are a multi-disciplined technical recruitment agency based in Chichester, West Sussex operating across the UK with specialist teams covering a range of industries.\n\nWe are acting as a Recruitment Agency in relation to this vacancy, and in accordance with GDPR by applying you are granting us consent to process your data, contact you about the services we offer, and submit your CV for the role you have applied for
